SUPER COLD BUT NOT HARD AND PAINFUL!!!
I remember having one of these in my dad's house when I was a kid, and was SO EXCITED to find it on Amazon as well!! The incredible thing about this ice pack is that it is filled with some kind of gel-like substance that freezes and gets (and stays!) super cold for a very long period of time, but IT'S NOT HARD!! This is awesome because if you've ever had a bump or bruise that you try to put a plastic baggie of ice cubes on, you know that it can hurt more because those are hard as rocks. The soft fabric of this combined with the gel substance inside that freezes but isn't hard is a literal miracle for bumps and bruises that are tender but need to be iced. When I was small, I sprained my ankles a LOT. We always put this ice pack on my ankles and it provided sweet, sweet relief without hurting them more. Now, as an adult myself, I got the chance to re-try this out just a couple of days after I received it (and promptly stuck it in the freezer). We were trying to bring a flat-bed dolly inside the house over a steep threshold and we got it inside but the flat bed of the dolly - metal, of course - slammed into my shin, causing it to instantly welt up. I knew what to do! I hobbled to my freezer, grabbed this ice pack, and plopped on the couch with it, putting it on my shin and leaving it on for about 30 minutes. 1. My shin is no longer swollen and the bruise is very light (this only happened two days ago). 2. It felt soooo nice and didn't hurt it further as a plastic baggie with ice would have. I also get migraines a lot, and the day after the dolly incident, I happened to have one. I took this ice pack out of the freezer and placed it, rolled up, under my neck as I laid my head back on the couch cushions, and within 10-15 minutes, my migraine was a lot better than it was before! I did have to remove it after that period of time because I started getting a little brain freeze and that wouldn't have helped at all, but the ice pack was still ice cold (ha, see what I did there?) and would have continued to stay cold. So, as someone who has used this ice pack both in my childhood and now in my adult life, BUY IT!! I am going to be ordering several more to have on hand as well for aches, pains, bumps, bruises, and headaches. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!! 10/10

Don't bother w/others - these ARE the best
I've been using ice packs for 41 years. I'm 56. Had first knee surgery at age 15. Subsequently have had both knees replaced Replacement knees at 9th and 10th ultimate surgeries; these at 15 & 16 years ago, respectively. I've always been a bit of a jock. Could never find any product to maintain the soothing cold temps for very long, until ACE. I'm due to have my shoulder replaced in the next several weeks. Not looking forward to it but it's medically necessary. Ice, cryo-pax, frozen peas-nothing kept cool let alone cold for any length of time. The LARGE size stays cold for at least 40 minutes, cool (below 50 degrees F) for over 60 minutes. These are PROFESSIONAL/INDUSTRIAL grade. They're almost identical to what my P/T uses. Normally my joints feel as though they're about to catch fire. I have severe osteoarthritis throughout my skeletal system. These packs are life & health savers. I use a jersey fabric pillowcase to insulate it against my skin and to help attach cold pack to distressed area. I now own four. (Perfect as I like my ice packs COLD, very cold); it helps to take the 'flame' out of localized inflammation. *note-make sure the pack is laid flat in freezer. If you place in freezer in a lumped up ball, a lumped up ball it will remain. Easier to lay flat before freezing. Ace beats local pharmacy generic brands, specific other top brands i.e. Cryo-packs, actual ice cubes in a baggies, frozen towels or my previous fave, frozen peas. If it splits-place inside of a first large zip-tight baggie & then, whole she-bang into a second, then seal. You can buy TWO of these for the same price as a single name brand in your local franchised drug store.

I have been using for 4 months - Great buy
My wife and I use these cold compresses for all kinds of pains: back, knee, hip, joints. You pop this cold compress out of the freezer and it is just the right level of cold to help ease your pains without a towel - without fuss. It molds to the shape of your joints particularly well. I have been using this ice compress for 4 months and it is still as good as it was the day I got it. I say again, this compress is low maintenance: out of the freezer, on to your sore spots, then back in the freezer again. Easy squeezie! I would definitely recommend this ice compress to my friends. I own two of them and they are both in perfect shape.

great product
currently i am dealing with sciatica and need to keep icing my back. i purchased 2 of these packs and they have been a godsend. they are the perfect size to place on my lower back and can easily help for your neck or other part of the body as its a size that works well anywhere. depends on how cold u have your freezer set it will either be a bit stiff or completely lose like a before you placed it in the freezer, but either way it holds the cold very well. the fabric itself feels like cloth and is designed to go right on your skin instead of needing to be wrapped in a towel which is nice. you can place it on and not feel the burn on your skin. i ice my back for a bout 25-30 minutes at a time and the packs last long enough to do the job. once you put them back in the freezer they take less than two hours before you can use them again. if you are unlucky like me and need to ice your aching body then i highly recommend this product.

This time I didn't waste time driving all over town to get something. (Yay!)
2020 Update: Now have six of these. While I did "mark" them in various places so the older ones could be distinguished from the new ones. Thaw Them/Squish them about on occasion, and no sign of leakage. They are also kept on a shelf away from everything else to prevent punctures - no sharp items or sharp edges. Also try not to put heavy weight (or myself) on top of the items. Seems to be working and all six are doing well. I bought one of these several years ago, and have been using it along with a honest-to-goodness Ice Bag (aka: Put cubes and water in a blue bag and screw on the cap). Both have been useful, and enough to get by when such things were necessary.. Recently had an annoying headache, and found that the ice bag (filled with water and ice) was a bit on the heavy side and also kept sliding/falling off. Meanwhile, the ACE Large Cold Thingee weighed less, was smoother (no bumpy cubes) and stayed put. The ACE was the better choice, but unfortunately when the ACE warmed up it had to go back to the freezer. I guess the Ice Bag wins that round as I could simply add more cubes to the Bag, kind of like waiting on a rechargeable battery vs being able to swap in some AAAs instantly. So planned to buy two more of these Very Useful Ace Large Cold Thingees, but after visiting two local stores, I realized that unless I could borrow a time machine and head back to where/when I bought the first one, I was out of luck. So instead ordered them on Amazon, and two days later I have my two extra Cold Thingees. Yay! My old faded one has been in the freezer for a few years hanging out with frozen food and other stuff, and to date no sign of any leaks, When the Two New Friends arrived this week, I did try pushing/squeezing them to see if any gel appeared, but everything looked great. Will try letting them thaw/re-freezing them a few times to make sure all is well, but if the original one lasted this long w/o leaking, I'd like to think the New Ones should also be ok. But never hurts to make sure! :)

Best price I’ve found for cold reusable packs
I suffer from migraines and frequent headaches as well as back and neck muscle pain. I also sleep really hot, especially in the summer. For years, I’ve kept reusable cold packs in my freezer to treat my headaches and muscle pain and to put on my pillow to cool me down and help me fall asleep at night. I like the fabric material on the outside of the Ace brand because it absorbs condensation and is comfortable on my skin. I like the gel used inside because it remains pliable enough to wrap around my head and neck while still maintaining its cold temperature for a good amount of time. Because I use them so frequently, I have to replace them periodically. When it came time for me to get new large and small compresses, I decided to check online to see if I could get them cheaper than at Walgreens or Rite Aid where I normally purchase them. I found these Ace brand cold compresses at a much better price on Amazon, especially when ordering them through Subscribe and Save. I’ve set it up to have one of each size delivered every 6 months. Because I’ve set up Subscribe and Save for other items, I always get the additional 5% discount when I have 5 or more items delivered in a month.

EXACTLY what you need.
I was hesitant, at first, to purchase this product only because of the price. But I’m SO glad I did. This cold pack is INTENSE. And if you need to get the swelling down from an injury or you have acute pain from ANYTHING, this is the product to get. I have NEVER experienced a cold pack this cold - and I’ve used the good ones filled with blue gel given to me at the chiropractor’s office. And those are VERY cold. ACE cold pack instructions indicate that you must not apply it longer than 20 minutes, and as soon as you use it you’ll understand why. You can risk frost bite. Yes, it is that cold. The nice thing is that you do NOT have to wrap it. You can apply it directly to bare skin - if you can take it. I have severe lumbar and sacral arthritis and this pack works to relieve inflammation almost immediately after one application. After I used that one pack the first time, I got two more. If you have pain, get ACE cold pack.

First impression: Large, flexible easy to use cold pack. This reusable cold compress is very handy to have. I have been using it for some time now and have found it to be my favorite cold pack I have used. Its larger size means I only need to use one where in the past I would need to use 2 of the smaller pads. It fits flat in my freezer taking up very little room but always ready when I need it. The construction seems very solid. The cover is a thick vinyl type material that after a great amount of use has not punctured. Most cool packs will leak if you puncture them or abuse them. It seems to take several hours to completely come to its coolest point but even then it is not solid as a rock (which is good) because you need a bit of flexibility to bold it to the part of the body where you need it. It is best if you try to flatten out the gel inside prior to putting in the freezer or you will end up with it taking the shape it was when you put it in. I enjoyed the product so much I bought a second one just so I could have a spare. You can put it directly on your skin but make sure that if the pack is too cold for the area that you put a towel over the pack as it could damage your skin if you leave it on too long (it is a cold pack after all). Conclusion: Well-crafted, good quality, large cold compress that is easy to use and store in the freezer. I have had many varieties of cold packs but this has become my favorite. Do not abuse it and it should last you for several years.
