Awesome book for prek teachers!
I actually bought this book for myself but it was sten by the prek teacher so I had to buy myself a new one. I started teaching in a blended Prek this year as a resource teacher for some students with severe autism. I loved the ideas in this book and the price is unbeatable. It really inspired me to come up with different activities and task boxes. This is a must buy if your working with young students.

Great Book and Resource
This is a great book. I've used it in the past, and bought this copy as a gift.I've worked with children on the spectrum for many years now, and have made many different "independent activities." It happens often that we run out of ideas, and this book has some really great ones.I love that it shows how you can make activities for kids using materials you can find around the house, and that it highlights the different skill areas that each activity addresses.I could definitely see this book being useful even for parents with typically developing children.

Good book for professionals and parents
Love this book! Love the different ideas for teaching children on the spectrum. One of the hardest things about being a professional is coming up with something new or finding a way to reach that one child who is really hard to get to. This book helped me with several of my tougher students. I recommend this book to teachers, therapists and parents. I don't particularly like the title of the book but nothings perfect :-)

Exactly What I've Been Looking For
My son is 3.5 years old and has autism. He's in a TEACCH based program once a week, for two hours as well as a regular half day preschool. I've been looking for ideas for work tasks similar to those at TEACCH to reproduce at home, and this book is a great blessing. There are color pictures and a materials list for every task, and a lot of the tasks use things I already have. I can't wait to start using it. A definite must buy for anyone wanting to work with their autistic child at home.

I love this book
I love this book. It gave me visuals to help create individual work tasks for my special education students with moderate/severe disabilities. There is a similar book series on the market but its price is way out of my price range. This book is affordable and has a range of levels presented in the tasks.

How Do I Teach This Kid?
This is a great resource for anyone, teachers and parents alike, who work with Autistic children ages 3-6. The book is full of easy-to-make structured teaching tasks for reading, math, sorting, matching, writing and fine motor skills. The targeted skills are defined, and the goals for each task are included. All the tasks can be constructed from materials you have laying around the house; your only expense might be Velcro! Autistic children thrive completing these types of structured tasks.

A very useful book
As a newly qualified teacher I had limited experience of teaching children with Autism. The book was recommended by a Local authority support worker who came to help me and a new TA set up a suitable teaching programme for a little boy with ASD. The book is step by step and very simple, providing practical ideas so that children develop their skills and knowledge, and at the same time, learn to work with a degree of independence as they work though their 'basket tasks'. initially, there is a degree of set up required, making the boxes for the sorting tasks, but these can be re used with other children, or could be adapted to suit the child you are working with. The child we worked with has come on a great deal in the past two terms, he is now able to identify and sort colours and objects. He can count to 15 and can also work with a degree of indepence which is great for his self esteem.

A superb book
If you are teaching children or adults with an early developmental level this book is a must. Simple but extremely well conceived ideas that we are using right throughout our complex needs school. And not just for children with asd.
