Solid build. A lot of fun
I've have this for around two weeks now and it's a lot of fun! I've recorded a video that runs through some of the settings particularly near the end. I recorded it with my phone. My intonation is slightly out on my guitar so excuse that. Build quality is excellent, made of metal with a nice finish. The different sounds I can get out of this thing are unreal! It really does sound like an organ at times! You can adjust the amount of wet and dry signal you want and the pitch shift effortlessly with two knobs and a switch. I can see this being really handy when I want to play along with a recording which is in a different key but I don't want to detune! I have found this adds a nice flavour to my tone and helps to fill it out a bit when I'm just playing in my bedroom. It tracks nicely and there isn't a massive lag that I have noticed. Size wise it's a micro pedal so doesn't take up loads of space on my board. It's about half the size of a standard sized boss pedal. It doesn't take batteries so needs a 9v input but this keeps its size and weight down which I'm all for. All on all this is a great piece of kit at a really affordable price when compared against other manufacturers. I can't justify paying a premium when this is solidly built and does exactly what it says it will. With the money I saved I will definately be buying more donner products to add to those I've already bought. Never been dissapointed yet with them!

32ms Delay Does Not Ruin A Good Pedal
The Donner Harmonic Square is a wonderful little beast, very robustly made and very efficient at what it does - pitch shifting! The unit has four controls and a clicky stomp button. There are two very small rotary knobs to control the mix of the dry and wet signals. This works exactly as expected, allowing you to mix from completely dry through to completely pitch shifted. A selector switch allows you to choose between sharp, detune or flat. The larger rotary knob allows you to select one of seven static pitch shift positions. There is no option to slide pitches between positions, which actually helps to keep this unit nice and simple. The total range of the unit is four octaves, two down to two up. The other selections allow you to step up or down by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 tones. It's therefore possible to find most (if not all) of the useful intervals. An unexpected benefit is the "detune" selection, which gives you a kind of static chorus effect, either up or down in pitch from the dry signal. Curiously the middle tuning selection (labelled as "+/-5") gives you a direct duplicate of the dry signal, but delayed slightly. In fact, the wet signal is delayed no matter which setting you are using. I looked at this in a spectrographic display and it seemed to be around 32ms as near as I could tell. Not enough to be off-putting when mixing with the dry signal, but enough to be distracting if using only the wet signal. The quality of the pitch shifted sound is pretty similar to the dry signal, with maybe just a shave of de-emphasis on the treble tones. The sound quality is good enough to allow you to split the signal chain to get useful double tracking in stereo. Overall, this is a lovely wee pedal. It's a bit more pricey than some at a penny off £39, but considering the overall quality I think it's a fair price.

Donner Harmonic Square Pitch Shifter with Violin
Donner Digital Octave Guitar Effect Pedal Harmonic Square 7 modes With the kind help of Amazon Returns (cough..), I've been searching for a pitch shifting pedal for a piezo equipped Electro Acoustic Violin. I need an accurate and clean pitch shift for 1 and 2 Octaves Down to give pseudo Cello and Double Bass emulation. I first tried a second hand Boss and then the Behringer copy; Nope, that isn't right. Then came the Ammoon Octa; Nope. Low Octave colouration, good tracking though, guitarists should try it with some filth applied. Then came the Rowin Octpus; Definitely Nope. The dry signal is altered and no attempt at unity gain. Pointless warbly high octaves. The Mk2 Mooer Tender is not the withdrawn Mk1; So what is a budget buyer to do? This little Donner Harmonic Square is a real breath of fresh air after all my searching. The Violin signal is tonally translucent in both, True Bypass and through-circuit Dry Signal. One Octave down is just amazing with a bit of reverb from my old Zoom 504II. It reproduces the bowed sounds brilliantly and some nice harmonics are still available. Two Octave down with pizzicato, I swear, sounds like a double bass! It tracks perfectly and faithfully reproduces the tonality of a bowed/plucked instrument with shifted pitches. I won't be using the High Octaves, because on a violin that just sounds insane..., but if that is what you are after, it can do it. It is not a harmonizer, so the other pitch shift features are of no interest to me. Doesn't come in a fancy box, the value is in the pedal. It has a quality control date mark on the back which was encouraging. A great sounding Octave Pedal for a piezo violin. Can't wait to gig with it!

Good quality, but minor delay on wet signal
Pretty cool, good for bass sound for busking but there is a slight but somewhat noticeable delay of the wet signal, kinda not an issue if you have the dry signal too, or if you have only the wet signal and aren't playing really precise (like heavy tremolo picking or sweep-picking). Can make up for it by rushing slightly. Would be nice if the pedal came with a 9V clip so you could attach a battery and connect it but otherwise awesome. 5ths (7 semitones) sound good up and down, same with octaves. Haven't played with others yet. The ability to go 2 octaves up or down is actually really cool, leads to some sick sounds. Play with a fuzz and it sounds unbelievable.

Good fun and lots of sounds!
These Donner pedals are mostly pretty great and represent excellent value for money. This pitch shifter is no exception. Build wise, as with all Donner pedals, it's pleasingly tank like and good weight with a sturdy metal shell. You get three options courtesy of a toggle switch "Sharp, Flat, Detune". The detune will be interesting to those who favour a wackier sound. I prefer the Sharp mode which lets you double your initial note up to two octaves higher. You can quite a nice 12-string effect from this setting. You can also control the "wet" and "dry" settings so you can dictate how much of the effect you want coming through. I've made a video and looped the same short phrase through each of the effect settings so you can hear them all. One thing to point out that I've seen asked is that you cannot detune (so drop half a tone to play along with G'n'R for example), this will NOT do that, it is purely a pitch shifter that will double up your original note to the selected interval. Another solid and great value pedal from Donner!

Awful, sounded terrible, cannot recommend.
Maybe I had a dud one, may be not but this thing is truly dreadful. Initially it wouldn't work and then when it did actually start to do something it made my bass guitar sound terrible. Sent it back and got a refund.

Great but gives static feedback
(Beginner here) great pedal and does the job Seem to get a lot of static come through the amp when I use it, unsure if this is normal and what I can do (Leads are new and not using extension lead) Also note this doesn’t come with a power supply and must buy one separately

Fun, Funky and worth every penny
I love octave and pitch shifting effects. I am lucky enough to have a very nice Pearl Octaver. However, the Harmonic Square caught my attention because of the sheer number of options available! You have 3 basic modes available on a small switch; tune up, tune down and detune. Each works with the pitch shift dial to change the pitch of the guitars signal. There are 7 settings for each mode. Tune up sees your pitch change by 1 semi tone per settings, unti you reach 1 Octave up, then you can also jump to 2 Ocatves up. The Tune down mode does the same except going down in semi tones, until you hit 2 octaves down. Detune changes the pitch in 10 cent increments from the center position either up or down. Tha is a lot of functionality in a small pedal! Best of all, it sounds great, from creating Hendrix like Octave sounds, to synthy bass sounds, to 5th Harmonies, this has it all and they all sound good! Exceptional value and a very usable pedal.

Pretty good sound
It is small and has surprisingly good sound. However I think it has to long delay time for the wet sound. But if you mix it with the dry sound you can get pretty cool sounds. To small knobs. But it feels like quality and a it comes with a manual and vey good packaging. It has a pretty high current consumption compare to other mini pedals.
