**Q: Is there any marking on the cloth to know the count or to know the starting point.**
A: No.  I usually fold the fabric into quarters to find the center of the piece of fabric. I mark this square with a straight pin and know that it is the very center of the design.  Then I look at the design instructions to determine the design center, and this is the where I begin to cross stitch.

**Q: What squares are larger 14 or 18**
A: 14.

**Q: Are the threads regular cotton color, or kind of "shiny silk" cotton? Sorry, I don't know how to explain better.**
A: My most recent cross stitch kit had "shiny silk" threads rather than flat cotton.  They are easier to use guide through the material, and I liked using them.  I hope this helps.
