I dont write too many reviews but I will for this one. This thing is great. I live in wisconsin. Cold nights. Winters. This thing was designed with function and portability in mind. Starting with the lid cover and the straps. You can do that in literally 30 seconds. Easy. Strap has a handle to carry also. Rocks stay inside when closed up. Never need to do anything. The hose is attached to the firepit so it just coils around the pit when putting the cover and strap on it. Now. It puts off some heat. I dont generally run it at the highest level but when I do the flames are about I would guess 8 inches above the rocks. No smoke. No mess. Portable and powerful. No issues at all. Oh. And it doesnt weigh much either. Guessing 15 pounds??? If I can update this post I will post a video next time I use it. Posted this review on 2/2/26

I bought this because of the fire bans in Colorado and was quite surprised how much I like it! I’ve been camping for well over 50 years and sitting around a campfire at night is one of the best parts - and sitting around a lantern during a fire ban just doesn’t cut it and makes for early bedtimes. IMHO, the campfire experience is nearly ruined by the outrageous fire rings found in most campgrounds (see photo). This propane fire pit conforms to the Stage 2 fire ban requirements in the counties I’ve camped in (but check first). As I foresee more and more extended fire bans in the future, I decided to try this out. After using this for seven nights over three trips, I’m sold! The flame output is attractive; we usually left it on the low setting once the rocks warmed up and it’s every bit as mesmerizing as a wood fire. The flame is also quite adjustable - if you turn it down to almost the off position you can roast marshmallows if you’re careful to not drop them in the lava rocks. Grandkid approved. The heat output is also impressive. As you can sit closer to the bowl than you can a smokey fire, it’s actually better in a lot of ways. I was also able to easily turn it on in the mornings to knock the chill off, which I never do with a real fire. I found the 19 inch model was large enough for 3 adults and three kids to sit around and enjoy without feeling crowded. As for gas usage, after 4 nights using the lower flame setting, I still had about a quarter of a 20 lb. tank left. The last three nights were longer and chillier, and we used it more in mornings, and the tank is nearly empty. As I have ample room in my teardrop trailer, I’ll probably start taking two tanks to be able to use up the partially full ones. The 20 lb. ones fit securely in a milk crate, which I find to be better than the stands/rings. I also got a case for the fire bowl to help keep the inside of my teardrop cleaner. In conclusion, I think this will usually be my fire of the future - which really surprises me. I’m glad I spent a few dollars more for the Outland Living fire bowl (chosen based on all the great reviews) as it is really well made and it will get a lot more use than I initially anticipated. The cost to use this is comparable to buying firewood, as is the space used to haul it. The only downside is not being able to fiddle/play with the wood as it burns which, again, with the deep fire rings isn’t as much fun as it used to be anyway. On the other hand, you don’t get smoke in your eyes and clothes.

I love everything about this propane fire pit. I love that it was easy to set up and is easy to use. I love that I could make it into anything I wanted. Other products were 3-4x more expensive, didn’t have the best reviews, and came with bases or tables built around them. I found those designs less appealing as they limited where I could put it or what I could do with it. I was able to get exactly what I wanted for a fraction of the price and I couldn’t be happier. I chose to put it in our existing wood fire pit with logs around it, simulating the mood of a wood fire. And the beauty is we can easily remove it when we want to have a wood fire from time to time. I love that I chose a low to the ground unit rather than a tabletop unit as I love to sit barefoot by the fire and warm my feet. (But what’s so awesome about this unit is anyone wanting to build a table around it can. With a little imagination and craftiness the possibilities are endless). I love that it provides me a little feeling of camping right in my own backyard. I love that I can listen to the birds and enjoy nature with a warm fire and cup of coffee on cold mornings or enjoy a drink outside on the cooler evenings while winding down. Otherwise I may not be out here, it may be too cold. I love that it provides a lot of heat. (I haven’t experienced a morning colder than mid 50’s yet, but even with a strong wind blowing at that temperature and a few small sprinkles, the heat it gave off on the high setting was soothing and I was very comfortable. I was also wearing my pajamas and housecoat, but my feet were bare and warmed by the fire). I love that if I want to have a quick fire for only 10 minutes I can have that. I followed the instructions and had no problems whatsoever. Some reviewers complained of difficulty with their units not working. I have had no problems. I very slowly turn the valve on the tank, slowly releasing the propane into the hose EACH time I light the unit. The rocks you see are what came with it. I chose to see how many were provided before ordering more, and for me the amount included was acceptable. It does have a faint hissing sound that accompanies the fire, but it doesn’t bother me. The pros vastly outweigh the cons for me. I also bought a propane extension hose to have the tank further away. I found the hiss from the tank was louder than the hiss from the fire. I also learned to light the fire using the flame shaped holes on the side rather than from the top as lighting things like this (including our grill) tend to make me jumpy. This is my first year with it, I’ve only owned it for a little over a month. I will update periodically. *Update* I’m still enjoying my fire on cool mornings. I don’t use it a lot, maybe a couple dozen times a year, but It’s been over 3 years and it’s held up beautifully.

Incredible, so simple to set up right out of the box... The flame is plenty big, and it gives off plenty of heat. So much better than burning wood, no smoky smell. It's lightweight; I carry it in our RV.

We got the 19” fire pit for home use and camping. I was concerned it would be too small, but this is absolutely perfect. Puts off PLENTY of heat and we usually run it on the lowest setting. A full 20lb propane bottle lasted about 8 hours for us. This is an attractive fire pit and we appreciate the cover and carry strap. Honestly, for the cost and hassle of firewood I wish I had bought this years ago.

CAMPFIRE RESTRICTIONS It has become a sad reality. California (and the west coast) has been hit with extreme drought and prolonged campfire restrictions due to the number of unfortunate, devastating wildfires that had been stretching the State’s firefighting resources thin. Our hearts go out to everyone affected! Last month saw something rightfully drastic that shocked our outdoor community: the US Forest Service shut down all CA USFS land for hiking, camping, and off-roading in its effort to prevent more wildfires! As outdoor enthusiasts, the realization that fires and resulting restrictions will not go away anytime soon had me finally look into propane fire pits as safer alternatives to wood/charcoal campfires. They do not produce runaway ember (that could spark a fire elsewhere) and do not cause damage to the ground underneath. That also resulted in learning about refillable propane tanks as cheaper and more environmentally-friendly fuel than those green 16oz/1lb Coleman Propane Canisters. Camping is just not the same without a campfire and most places in California do not restrict propane stoves or propane fire pits during high fire season. You should always check local fire restrictions, however, although most often you only need to sign up for a free campfire permit. In this article, I will go over the Outland Living Firebowl Propane Fire Pit, the various models, and why I now use a refillable propane tank instead of the green, 16oz canisters. IN A NUTSHELL The Outland Living Firebowl is one of the most popular propane fire pits recommended by outdoor enthusiasts for camping, boondocking/overlanding, and backyard gatherings. It is portable, produces pleasant, dancing flames, and outputs sufficient heat to warm up a group of people. It also does unofficial double duty for cooking! I specifically chose the 19″ Firebowl Deluxe 893 model that includes a cover and carry strap for safety and easier transport. It struck me as the version with the best overall value, size, and weight suitable for a group of up to 10 people. Indeed, the first time we used it in our backyard for a California summer evening get-together produced quite an unbearable amount of heat at its highest setting! Safety was my biggest concern in finding a propane fire pit, followed by portability, reliability, and price. The Firebowl 893 Deluxe is certified by the CSA and looks to be sturdy and very well-made. Setup and usage was simple: Connect the pre-attached 10′ hose to a distant, secured, 20lb propane tank, check for gas leak, slowly and gradually light up the burner, and allow the included 4.4 lbs of porous lava rocks to heat up for 5+ mins for a vibrant flame. The heat intensity can then be adjusted through a valve knob — the lower the flames, the longer the fire lasts. A 5 pound propane tank could last about 2-4 hours, whereas a 20 lb would be usable for 7-12 hours according to anecdotes from users across the Internet. Various factors would affect the usage time, including heat setting, weather conditions, and ambient temperature. Do note that Outland Living will ONLY support the use of 20 lb propane tanks as that is what their products were certified for. My research found that 5-20 lb (1-5 gal) tanks are safe to connect to. I also use these cylinders to power the Mr. Heater Buddy indoor heater. What I particularly like about the Firebowl is how quickly a fire could be started/stopped on demand (even when the surrounding campsite is wet), how it burns without any smoke, and that the heat intensity could be controlled — a valuable feature for predictable cooking. Wood and coal fires cannot easily claim those properties. Most importantly, propane fire pits can be used at most places during a campfire ban because they do not produce ember nor damage underneath vegetation. Propane fire pits, of course, also have their disadvantages. They usually are not certified for use other than what they were developed for. That means that cooking, although possible, is discouraged because fire pits like these are designed to produce yellow flames. Those result in soot, a black substance consisting mostly of carbon, that can cause breathing issues, heart disease, and even cancer. Furthermore, grease or food particles can clog the burner and give the fire pit an unsightly appearance — it certainly took some time to clean after a test of some delicious steak grilled in butter, rosemary, and garlic inside a cast iron pan. If you want the taste of charcoal or hear the fire crackling, propane is not able to provide that. Outland Living, in fact, skirts around the question of cooking and using third party products (like glass or non-lava rocks) with a generic statement that its products are not CSA-certified with other products or for use other than a fire pit. Many consumers, myself included, do not see a problem roasting marshmallows/hot dogs or boiling water over a sturdy cooktop grate, but be sure to not let any drip or fall into the pit. That would make for some messy cleanup or clogged burner holes! Outland Living has a natural gas conversion kit available for use at home, and the Deluxe version of the Firebowl comes with a carry strap and lid. The latter helps keep children and animals away from the cooling lava rocks while also holding said rocks in place during transport. Camping is just not the same without a campfire, right? With fire restrictions increasingly more common in California and with our family also doing more dispersed camping, a portable, safe fire pit has become one of our favorite camping accessories to bring along. The Outland Living Firebowl 893 Deluxe fits perfectly in our Yakima SkyBox roof carrier and with that, we now have access to warmth, a natural TV show of flames, and cooking as needed. When there is no smoke, there also is no smelling like smoke! I cannot wait to use it during colder weather in a few months! IGNITION AND LOW FLAMES Propane tanks and appliances have a built-in excess flow safety device. The Firebowl’s is located in the hose and those not aware may think their fire pit or propane tank is defective when it actually is a safety feature. If pressure builds up too fast in the hose, the hose regulator will limit the flow, keeping the flame size low and not responsive to the gas knob. TROUBLESHOOTING A LOW FLAME - Turn off the gas at both the propane tank and fire pit ends - Open the fire pit gas valve to release pressure and close again - Disconnect and reconnect the hose from the propane tank - VERY SLOWLY open the propane tank’s valve. Going too fast will release too much pressure and trigger the hose safety device again - Perform a leak test around the valve and hose -- This should be done at least once a year -- One simple way is to mix soap and water and spray onto the valve and hose -- If you see bubbles forming or smell propane, you may have discovered the leak and should shut down the gas immediately --- Wait an hour for the remaining gas to dissipate before disconnecting the hose. Take the part in for inspection - If there is no leak, proceed to igniting the fire pit IGNITING THE FIRE PIT - Manufacturer recommends 80″ (7′) clearance above and 36″ (3′) surrounding the fire pit -- No combustible surface should be underneath - Ensure the propane tank is at least 36″ (or 3′) away from the fire pit – THIS IS IMPORTANT! -- If possible, put the tank into the included stabilizer ring to keep it from tipping over - With the propane tank’s gas valve already SLOWLY opened, light up a match or lighter slightly above the fire pit - VERY slowly open the gas valve on the fire pit until the fire ignites BURN TIME CALCULATION BTU (British Thermal Unit) measures the amount of heat (energy) it takes to raise 1lb of water a single 1F. It is commonly used with heaters and air conditioners. There is 91,500 BTU of energy in 1 gallon (4.24 lbs) of liquid propane. To calculate how many hours are available for the fire pit set on the “High” setting with 1 gallon of liquid propane: Calc: 91,500 BTU/hr / Appliance BTU/hr rating = Hours available per gallon Firebowl burns at 58,000 BTU/hr on “High” setting. It can last an approximate minimum of: - 1 gal (4.24 lbs) propane: 1.58 hours = 91,500 / 58,000 -- 5 gal (21.2 lbs) propane: 7.88 hours = 91,500 / 58,000 x 5 - 1 lb propane: 0.37 hours = 91,500 / 58,000 / 4.24 -- 5 lb propane: 1.86 hours = 91,500 / 58,000 / 4.24 x 5 -- 20 lb propane: 7.44 hours = 91,500 / 58,000 / 4.24 x 20 FINAL THOUGHTS My children and fellow camping friends were ecstatic when they saw the Outland Living Firebowl turned on at camp. It turned their disappointment of not being able to have a campfire to one of joy and cheers, starting the evening off with a warm, cozy mood and intriguing storytelling. Sometimes, some neighbors walked by to remind us that a campfire ban was in effect until we shared we were running off propane, whereas some would come over to ask which fire pit we had or recommended. I appreciated the ability to quickly turn on the fire in the chilly, early morning while the little ones slowly woke up and sat in their chairs with instant ramen or hot chocolate in their hands. Furthermore, refillable propane tanks are not only less expensive and more environmentally friendly than the 16oz/1lb green propane cylinders, they can also power our Mr. Heater Buddy indoor heater for longer periods of time. A 5 lb propane tank allows about 2-4 hours of use, perfect for a long weekend getaway. If I had not yet made it clear, a propane fire pit has become an essential part of our camping gear now, especially when campfires are not allowed or when I don’t want any smoke to irritate the eyes of the youngest of the kids. It also has enabled us to have a campfire (without smelling like smoke afterwards) when boondocking/overlanding on dispersed land where new fire rings are not permitted. All in all, could not be happier with our choice. The Firebowl 893 Deluxe comes highly recommended.

This little fire pit is awesome. It’s perfect for those times when you don’t want the hassle of starting a wood‑burning fire, or when a burn ban is in effect and you still want that cozy campfire vibe. The flame is steady, the heat output is great, and it’s super convenient to use. The only flaw I ran into was figuring out how to properly attach the strap handle — the instructions weren’t very clear, so it took some trial and error. Other than that, it’s a fantastic, easy option for camping or backyard use.

Wow! No wonder the Oulander 19” portable fire pit has great reviews. It can have quite high flame generating a lot of heat, or turned down low for those windy evenings. (See the video.). The stand is solid and doesn’t wobble. It has no folding legs to collapse, yet is still small enough (19” wide x 11”H) to pack nicely. The metal is a thick, strong metal with plenty of air holes. The lid only sits on top with no claps to hold it on, but carrying strap intended to carry it by that holds the lid place. We purchased the soft carrying case, but will still latch the top on with the strap to prevent lava dust from spreading. We have a container with a lid for the lava rocks when not in use. It was very easy to set up with the lava rocks and propane. I can hardly wait to take it camping. Fire from burning wood triggers my asthma. We haven’t had a campfire in 5 years, or even a fire in our wood burning fireplace. This Outlander fire pit is better than I dreamed, but this will give us the enjoyment of our campfire back, and it’s easy to set up and repack after the lava rocks have cooled. It was an excellent buy at a good price. I will recommended it to family and friends, and would buy it again. It is a great value for the price. We already have it packed in our camper van for our January trip.

Calienta muy bien, perfecto para áreas pequeñas. Dice que trae piedras de repuesto pero las 3 bolsas que trae quedan casi exactas, hasta siento que le hacen falta porque ninguna sobra para dejarlas de repuesto, igual son fáciles de conseguir. Lo que sí es que tuve que cambiarle la conexión que trae en el regulador porque evidentemente la que trae no da en los tanques de gas de México, gasté solo $65 pesos en la punta pol con o-ring y la tuerca izquierda con maneral de plástico negro. Si lo recomiendo por la practicidad de llevarlo a cualquier lugar y poder usarlo donde sea. Yo lo uso en mi terraza con un tanque de gas de 4Kg.

Merveilleux. Fonctionne très bien, très belle flamme, aucune fumée. Facile à transporter. Pas trop lourd à transporter et utilise très peu de propane. Très satisfaite de mon achat, je le recommande.

Camping on the North West Coast of Scotland. Tent up, fire on, amazing sunset. What more could you ask for. A lot of campsites do not allow fire pits but will allow a fire bowl powered by propane gas. Clean, no mess, no wood to carry, minimal fire risk if positioned correctly. Even on half setting there was a lot of heat coming from it. We put in all the lava rock that came with it. One bag not enough really to cover the burners adequately. Really adds to the atmosphere of an evening. Very portable with the carrying straps/handle. You could really take this anywhere as long as your propane tank isn't too big. Beach, Garden etc..

Small and compact, ideal for our balcony, it comes in a bag so you can carry it to other areas easily. Haven’t used it yet , only to try the different settings on it , it works a treat and will be ideal for later on in the evening when the sun goes down and the weather gets cooler. Love it 🥰
