Ray Villafane's Pumpkins

There are some great quality pictures in here, but I was hoping for more direction. I think this would work better as an accessory to the DVD (which I plan on purchasing also). If you already know how to sculpt a pumpkin this will give you some great ideas, but it might be depressing for the beginner.

This book is an absolutely beautiful photo collection of gorgeous pumpkins carved by Ray Villafane. I was wanting more of a how-to book but only the first six pages contained the how-to's and the rest were full color photos of amazing carved pumpkins. If I already know how to carve, this would be a fantastic book for getting ideas. But, it is NOT a how-to. Glad I got it used.

This is a wonderful book for the coffee table, full of breathtaking work by carver Ray Villafane. Great showcase of Ray Villafane's talent!

Fantastic book, with excellent instructions. I can't wait for the season to begin so I can start using some of the ideas and creations Mr. Villafane's has in his book. I plan to purchase his other books also. I think he is a master artist with a wonderful gift.

I love Ray Villafanes' work. I was disappointed in the book because it only had one example of carving. The rest were pictures of his exquisite work -which I already have. I had expected a variety of techniques and how-to's to learn from.

Ray Villafane's work is beyond belief. I bought the book and the video to try and see how he does it. I am an amateur carver, and know I'll never be in his class, but it's fun to see what he can create. The photos are crisp and the whole concept is amazing.

This is a great book of art and that is what it is art. amazing detail and photography. I wish it was bigger but i am 100% happy with it. If I had to make a critique I guess some more "how to" would have been nice but really I can not complain.

Amazing pumpkin carvings :)

Die Bilder sind echt gut.Leider wurden meine Erwartungen von ein paar Schnitzschritten nicht wirklich erfüllt.In dem Buch werden bis auf eine Schritt für Schritt-Erklärung, nur Bilder gezeigt.Die Schritte die gezeigt werden sind für einen simplen lächelnden Kürbis.

Leider enthält das Buch nur eine etwas ausführlichere Anleitung, aber die Bilder sind genial. Das Nacharbeiten traue ich mir allerdings nicht zu, dafür braucht man schon großes künstlerisches Talent zum Schnitzen oder Bildhauern. Trotzdem ein tolles Buch.

Tolle Bilder von meinem Lieblings- Kürbis Schnitzer..Leider wird wenig gezeigt,wie man die Gesichter schnitzt. Keine richtige Einleitung...Werde versuchen seine Videos zu bekommen..
