Lots of Facts, Great Connections.
As the reader from Boston, MA, states, this biography is indeed chock full of facts which, as page 564 comes closer, become increasingly difficult to remember, but become of increasingly significant interest to the literate reader. But, to say that it lacks a common story or thread suggests that the previous reviewer had forgotten the title of the book. Its common story and thread is Frank Lloyd Wright and whilst his voice may not come through the pages, the character of the man most certainly does, with all of his contradictions, emotions, passions, beliefs, talents, foibles, attitudes and prejudices. Not only was he a genius, he was a human being and Meryle Secrest has written an unputdownable page turner.

Very compelling book that relates the life of Frank Lloyd Wright as a master of innovative architecture. It reveals his personal flaws and his genius. It was amazing how out of adversity, he always managed to come out on top. He was a very eccentric personality, a man truly ahead of his time.I really loved this book.

This is the story of a man who produced a group of the most significant buildings in the twentieth century, Frank Lloyd Wright, Architect. It is not the complete story of who he was and what he did but Meryle Secrest has opened the records and begun revealing, in a very easy ro read biography, the people, events and talents that allowed him to play the part of a great architect who was an artist, builder, author, lover of music, beauty and women. With all the theatricality of marital and financial troubles in the life that's presented by Secrest it's not surprising that his grand daughter Anne Baxter received an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Laurels to Meryle Secrest for this personal history of Frank Lloyd Wright's life. May those who follow her do as well in adding to our knowledge of this great person.

Well written and researched. Wright was too complicated a man not to be interesting, but the biographer spent a little bit too much time on the minute details of his ancestors.

As a long time art student I consider even Frank Lloyd Wright to be an artist of the highest quality. Art is imagination and the ability to translate thought down on paper and even out of stone, concrete and steel.

At times the work is stale and difficult to read. However it did provide some little know tidbits about FLWโs life. In that regard it is worth the read.
