### ⭐⭐ Seems like Movo is doing a "mystery" kit where they sub stuff in; I didn't get what I expected

TL;DR: The kit seems to be hastily assembled with not much guarantee about what you'll get exactly, BUT, if the possible variants are of equal use, or at least each of enough use to justify the expense, then I think this kit is an excellent value. I rated it two stars wholly because of the inconsistencies and inaccuracies between the kit I received and the information on the product page, including the fact that the product page was edited between the time I placed my order and when it was delivered AND that Movo didn't discluse the fluid nature of what's included. I have two fundamental gripes with the kit I received: the mic is the "Long" version and the boom pole is barely usable for a lot of applications unless it's modified. The microphone is the Saramonic SongBird T3L, which is the "long" variant while the microphone in the product photos is the SongBird T3, the "short" or "standard" length variant. The T3L has a SUPER-cardioid polar pattern while the T3 has a CARDIOID polar pattern. The T3 is about 11 inches long while the T3L is about 15 1/2 inches long ... The T3L sounds fine to me, though not perfect, BUT it's too long for the Movo BWS1000 "blimp" style windscreen that I ordered at the same time as this kit, partly because I was expecting the T3. There are some other differences between the two that may or may not have resulted in a better outcome, in terms of signal quality, but the length is the biggest issue for me as now I have a couple of these blimps without a shotgun that fits properly. Movo was not specific about which mic would be included, but the T3L doesn't match the listed product specs and photos on some basic points and there was no indication that it even might be something different than depicted. I am, however, very impressed with the build quality of the T3L. It feels like a much more premium mic to hold and operate. For the audio quality, it's all so subjective and sometimes application specific that I can't really say much except that I think it's going to be fine as a sort of catch-all for a mid-long shotgun mic. It could be better for sure, but even if I had paid the kit price for just the mic I think I'd have been satisfied with the output. The mic uses a standard XLR connector, which is a must-have for me as I prefer and really need to record with a dedicated recorder like my Zoom H5 or F6, but having internal power options makes it easier to also use the mic with other devices that cannot provide phantom power through their mic jacks, such as my iPhone or my digital SLR camera. To use this mic with most cameras or with smartphones, etc., you'll need at least one adapter, possibly two or more. My camera has a 3.5mm TRS stereo mic input that doesn't handle mono TS plugs well, so I have to use a stereo breakout cable plus the impedance matching 3.5mm TS to XLR adapter too to get the signal into my camera. For my iPhone, I'd need a slightly different configuration of adapters, but still pretty easy to do and inexpensive. I'm not a fan of the non-user-serviceable battery in the mic and not a fan of using micro-USB (it's 2026!) to charge it, but at least I knew those things up front. I'd have rather they skip the internal battery entirely for the sake of making the mic shorter and then offer an optional rechargeable external P48 battery pack as a form of future proofing. As it is, this is probably a 5-10 year mic, same as with the T3, which starts to make spending more money on more expensive mics that aren't going to be rendered obsolete soon a pretty appealing option. There were some accessories that were supposed to be included in the kit when I put my order in that were not included in my kit. The hard case is the big one and is really annoying to not get because it will be an additional expense, but I'm pretty sure there was also supposed to be a longer XLR cable included in the kit. The little stub of a cable (under 2 feet long) that is included with the mic in this kit is going to be mostly useless for me and it's not long enough to reasonably run from the boom pole to something like a portable recorder, so that's something that will be an extra expense for some people. The boom pole's biggest problem is the integrated cable. Integrated cables are great, but only when they're done really well. This one is ... lacking. It works, but you have to be really, really gentle with your movements to avoid the cable making a bunch of noise inside the pole. Honestly, I'll probably just pull the cable out and run an external cable instead. Another issue is that the pole sections rotate freely and, particularly as there's a cable in there, they shouldn't. Too much twisting in one direction vs. the other will result in some tangling inside the pole. The way the twist locks function is also a bit of a stinker as they exacerbate the issue of the free rotation and the free rotation exacerbates the twist lock's clunkiness to get snugged down. And, the grips on the twist locks are really uncomfortable to operate bare-handed. Between the handling noise and the biting nature of the grips on the twist locks, the pole will probably inspire the operator to wear gloves if they aren't already in the habit. Everything else is basically as expected. None of the included accessories are anything grand, but they're all completely usable. The windscreens, for example, aren't competing with the best in the industry, but they're fine and the price is very reasonable. The shock mount works reasonably well, though maybe a bit on the weak side for the larger, heavier T3L vs. the T3, but within tolerances, in my opinion, for the cost. And, so on. I think this kit is perfect for students and hobbyists, though with some modifications probably. For a pro, I would say it's a no-go, except as maybe an "oh sh**" backup, a disposable option for risky situations, or a beater rig for messy or rough situations. I don't regret ordering the kit exactly, but I am perturbed by how this product listing has been handled and I'm disappointed that I'll still need to go out and buy a different mic. I already had a long shotgun mic that's similar enough that I don't really need another, but I do need one in the 9~11 inch range like what I expected when I put the order in. If you don't care whether you get the T3 or T3L (or maybe even another mic??), then the kit is a solid deal and I'd say get it. But, if you need to be sure you get a specific mic, maybe don't get this kit. If it wasn't for the undisclosed switch-up, I'd have given the kit five stars.
