PRINCE2 in Plain English: a Guide to the Project Management Method in Simple Terms

This was a very good buy for me - a professional with a limited attention span, who has got to manage a project (and project officer) doing a PRINCE2 project.It walks you through a project and so at all times there are concrete examples so you can see exactly what is needed and why.I bought several other PRINCE2 books, and this is the single best one. It is well written and seems to cover the basics well - thank you to the author.

I found this book an excellent intro to prepare for a Prince2 training. It is written exactly how the title suggests. Once read, the official P2 manual makes a lot more sense and is much easier to read. Basicly Prince 2 in Plain English unravels the jargon of project management. To other customers I would definately recommend this text as a primer for P2 study and well worth the investment. Compared to other P2 books I found it reasonably priced.

I found the book very useful given that I am currently studying for my practitioner exam. Although it gives good examples of applications, it is important that you are aware of the key elements of P2. It's not the book to start from scratch but it is a good book for a P2 PM to have in their library.

This book is a useful introduction to the official PRINCE2 manual and perfect as preparation for the PRINCE2 examinations, for participants in a PRINCE2 project and those looking for real world examples of using PRINCE2. It will also prove useful to those who are new to project management and looking for an off-the-shelf project management framework as well as those wanting a more detailed overview of PRINCE2 in action. There are 10 chapters with a chapter on each of the basics, the Principles, the Processes and the seven Themes. Tailoring is discussed throughout the book and the relevant principles and processes are are covered in each of the themed chapters.If you add to the 113 pages of easy to understand content which, as you would expect, covers pretty much everything you need to know, two A3 full colour wall charts, a 140 term glossary, the 4 real world examples, excellent graphics and a decent sized font then you will understand why this book is excellent value for money and a 'must'have' for anybody wanting an introduction to PRINCE2, a refresher on the methodology or just sufficient knowledge of PRINCE2 to have a framework to guide them.

I've practiced in Project Management and currently lecture in the subject. I didn't have very high expectations for this book since I've read many books on Prince 2 that are harder to read than the manual. However, this book is an excellent, low cost introduction for anyone interested in learning more about Prince 2 or as a complement to the OGC publications. The layout is clear and simple, with Section 1 providing a quick introduction and Section 2 providing details of each theme. Chapters are kept short with a simple layout, big diagrams, clear text. The only improvement that I can suggest would be a summary chapter at the end reviewing all of the text and providing an integrated view of all process areas.

A well written and quite readable introduction to Prince2. It is an introduction, not an in depth treatment, and does not try to replace the manual. I found it very useful to read this before attending the training course and exam.
