WD 1TB My Passport Ultra, Silver, Portable External Hard Drive, backup software with defense against ransomware, and password protection, USB-C and USB 3.1 - WDBC3C0010BSL-WESN

I make 2 backups of my PC every week -- one goes on this drive. I carry it with me. The other goes on another drive and I keep it in a safe. I'm limited in what I can say about the drive because I've never had to use it to recover.

Very slick design and I like usb-C to usb-C cable with usb-A adapten which Seagate didn’t provide and complicated micro-B complicated cable design for same 1TB HDD And Customer Support is better with WD. I have returned both 1TB seagate hdds drives and replaced them w WD ones And more satisfied now. That’s my experience anyway …. Thx

This is a Type C hdd that i am using for my Mac. Its pretty fast. I am just using this as a storage and i am able to transfer data at real good speed. Overall happy with the product and its performance.

Good part: Got it on time and easy hook up. Bad part: poor support operating, registering and software installation. I want to do more than just drag & drop files. I had to resort to youtube. No manual provided and I could not find one on their site. However, eventually got what I needed and files are being backed up using their free backup software. Now, I have to learn what the different blinking rates mean.

I have had this for about 2 months and everything has been smooth with it. It's small and light so won't take up much space if you need to carry it around. I have an older laptop (PC) and it works well with it. I just plugged it into my laptop and was easily able to drag and drop the files into it. Highly recommend!

I’m not super tech savvy, but this external hard drive has been super easy to use! I have a MacBook Pro and wanted something I could store my games on. I play World of Warcraft and other games that require a large storage capacity and fast streaming. This hard drive offers both! Very pleased!

Slick item. Works well out of the box. Nice to have a compact backup unit. Redundant backups are a part of life and IMO having complete control over one set is a necessity. This item was easy to use so I didn’t need to contact technical support and gave 5 stars because I didn’t need to contact them.

I am not a computer expert. In fact, I would not be offended if you called me the opposite of a computer expert. So if you are a computer expert, this for sure does not apply to you. 1. Mac formatted means plug and play on Mac right? Mac OS Extended formatting should be installed right? Maybe they accidentally sent the wrong one. 2. Paragon NFTS for Mac. I was curious. So I installed it-> but it does not support OS 10.14.1 (Mojave)-> but regardless of not supporting it, somehow it installed-> the hard drive will not mount on the Mac without going through NFTS software in System Preferences->which will still not mount it because it never installed properly (as 10.14.1 not supported) 3. Decided the whole Paragon software that was included was complete BS and tried Mac Disk Utility both First Aid and Reformatting->still won't mount 4. Installed WD Discover out of curiosity as well->had to go through an unintaller app and systems folders to uninstall WD Discover. All in all, I almost just reset my Mac to factory setting to start over. There are a lot of hard drives out there. Don't get this one. After googling for all sorts of instructions, I realized the issues I had were really common. The included Paragon Software makes the drive not mount on Macs frequently. WD Discover either won't install or won't uninstall frequently. So unless you are comfortable with the backend of your machine, get Toshiba. That on really is plug and play. And if you are an expert at computers, not doubt my misery is rather entertaining.

Works every time. But then it is WD and would not expect anything less. Small and easy to use. Great for storage and backup

Je n'ai que des disques durs WD et je n'ai jamais eu de soucis. Je recommande pour ceux qui ont besoin de matériel fiable sur la durée.

I bought this to use with a new ATSC TV tuner as the external hard drive for the DVR function. I had bought an ATSC TV tuner stick but it would not accept the WD hard drive even after I reformatted it to the FAT32 configuration. So I had to use a flash drive instead. The tuner started malfunctioning, sputtering in and out, so I bought a second one that was similar but by a different company. This second tuner not only worked better out of the box, it came with a better remote control lay out and accepted the reformatted WD external hdd to record programming. It all works fine. I trashed that first tuner.
