Science and Spirit Explore the Chakras.
Printed originally in 2000, "The 7 Healing Chakras" remains to be an excellent read especially for the reader who is exploring chakras for the first time. The consideration of addressing the chakras continues to increase in visibility within the medical and psychiatric community. As time passes, some traditional physicians and psychiatrists are including chakra healing as a consideration within their practice. As the chakras do not reside within the physical field it is an area still being expanded with much debate. I'm sure psychologists and psychiatrists can empathize with the struggle to secure credibility within a healing field that traditionally limits its healing to the physical and tangible. This book carefully works with each chakra and with emotional and physical issues that are rooted within that chakra's field. Dr Davies lists each, provides you with some background understanding and then offers exercises, meditations and activities to strengthen, clarify and energize the individual chakras.Chakras are more readily felt than seen and are vortices of energy that penetrate our energetic fields, aura and the physical bodies. They are like translation tunnels from the field of energy through to and into the physical and back as well. Western culture has yet to fully embrace the concept of the chakra system that is millenia old in acceptance within the East. This book carries the credibility of a traditionally educated psychiatrist, who saw beyond the limitations of western medicine and expanded the healing arts that she offered to include those that have been practiced for thousands of years in the East.

well worth it
When I think about this book, the word "gentle" comes to mind. I finished this book about 7 months ago and I still think about it often. Brenda Davies really helps you to visualize your body's energy fields and dive right into the heart (ha!) of them. I always enjoy books that teach me something, and I felt like I was in a one-person classroom every time I opened this book. There are a lot of worthwhile exercises in these pages. In fact, I was meditating much better after reading the chapters and following Brenda's suggestions on meditations, affirmations, and activities associated with each chakra. I felt an overall calm while reading this book and I was able to uncover some hidden feelings that were buried deep inside, slowing my chakras down. I kept a journal while I read this book and I surprised myself with some of the entries. It was almost as if my memory was more clear- especially while working with the root and sacral chakras.I can't say enough about how this book helped me to overcome obstacles and sort out my past in order to put it behind me and move onward and upward. I could physically feel my energy unblocking and traveling more freely though my body. I did take a lot of time with this book and cherished all of the exercises included inside. Do yourself a favor and find a really peaceful corner- especially outdoors- and you will undoubtedly be able to heal your own self.

A good basic guide for anyone interested in the seven healing Chakras.
I have been a Reiki master for a while now and decided it was time to also learn about other forms of energy healing to compliment my Reiki training. I purchased this 238 page soft cover book (The 7 healing Chakras: unlocking your body’s energy centers by Brenda Davies, M.D.) recently on Amazon for a bargain price. This volume provides a simple introduction to the subject of Chakras. The first part of the book covers a basic introduction to the topic. The second part explains in detail the root of Chakra, (1) the Sacral Chakra, (2) and the Solar Plexus,(3) the heart Chakra,(4) the throat Chakra,(5) The Brow (third eye) (6) Chakra and the Crown Chakra.(7). The author explains the various meanings and colors of each Chakra and how to correct and balance each Chakra. If you are seeking a basic book on the subject of Chakras you may want to check out this volume.Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Chair/Seated Tai Chi, Qigong, and Yoga for seniors and the physically challenged).

Love it!
With very limited knowledge about chakras I decided to purchase this book on a whim. Upon reading this book, I found it very easy to understand and able to relate to. I compared the functions and dysfunctions Brenda mentions to others and myself. This gave me an insight on what I needed to work on and what was good already.I found the exercises very easy to follow and well, i gota say the exercises changes your life LITERALLY! Check this book out of if you are in need of some healing :]Cheers!

Airy- fairy yet negative
Vague, airy-fairy descriptions of the chakras are combined with a decisive, my-spiritual-path-is-THE-spiritual-path primer on the basics of spirituality. At one point the author describes "wise, ancient spirits" who are suffering very painful lessons so that they can be closer to God. Do you really want to take spiritual healing advice from someone who projects her own punishment agenda onto the divine (and you!) and glorifies suffering. Check out Karla McLaren's "Your Aura & Your Chakras." Like all authors, she has her own issues to work out, but the information is presented in a much clearer, much more neutral fashion.

7 Healing Chakras:Unlocking your body's energy centers
This is the most comprehensive text that speaks about healing through the chakras that I have read so far. Combined with the essential workbook this duo will take the reader on an experiential journey to healing and understanding of the self. The meditations are very helpful and the affirmations useful as daily reminders. I highly recommend these 2 publications. You will find yourself using them again and again.
