Not quite as good as the bamboo ones
I was a bit unhappy at first after an email misunderstanding. I'm so glad we got that all worked out. Jennifer, the proprietor of the Organic Handkerchief Company, is very good to deal with. She really wants her customers to be happy. So, my review reflects two things, how I felt about these particular handkerchiefs and also how I was treated as a customer.Unfortunately, I was not aware of just how necessary ironing would be for these hankies. They're well made and they don't include the spray on compounds that most manufacturers use to help keep their cotton wrinkle-free. This is a good thing because if you truly care about using organic ingredients, you will forego the nasty chemicals. However, I'm a lazy cuss, and that means I don't iron. So, for me, the only way to keep these from being wrinkled was to hang-dry them. If you're familiar with the texture of cotton when it is hung out to dry, you will know immediately that this is not the best for one's nose. By comparison, I have the Organic Bamboo Flannel (sadly no longer available) and these are mostly wrinkle-free and soft. For the ironing aspect, I had to rate these at just a three. Now, for all the efforts that Jennifer went to in order to make me a happy customer, that's a different story. For that, the company gets a 5, thus averaging out to a 4 star review. If you don't mind ironing, these are well made hankies. But if you're lazy like I am, then look to the flannel ones. I will be putting up a separate review for the Organic Cotton Flannel ones in a little bit. Spoiler, they're a 5!One last thing to mention. Looking at some other reviews, it appears as if the occasional accident can happen where a hankie hem might just fall out. Let me say that this is a small operation with good people who stand behind their product. If you do happen to get one of those, you owe it to yourself to talk to Jennifer first, she will make sure to correct the problem, with interest. If this were a big box company, I'd say to speak what's on your mind, but small businesses have enough difficulty fighting the big boxes, so let them impress you with their customer relationship skill no big box will ever offer :-)

Terrible hem
Hem on handkerchiefs began to unravel after first washing. I have much less expensive handkerchiefs that are a few years old, that have held up better. Really disappointed, as I try to by USA made products when available.

Not organic cotton, no sewn in label, no certificate of origin on fabric, LINTY
I have a hard time believing these are organic cotton, or even 100% cotton for that matter. The handkerchiefs I grew up with, that my father had, were 100% cotton, and they never came out of the laundry covered in lint. Most of the clothing and other handkerchiefs I own are 100% cotton, and none of my laundry are covered in lint like these are after just 3 washings. I can't possibly use these for the intended purpose. Very disappointed.Edited to update: After about a dozen washings, these finally came up lint free. I wonder if the fabric had some kind of coating. They are in my handkerchief rotation, and serve the purpose just fine, now. I still prefer my cut up t-shirt jersey kerchiefs, for comfort, and absorbency. Updated my review to 3 stars, instead of one. Perhaps they should consider pre-washing the fabric, before sewing and selling.Second Edit: After only two months, stitching has come undone on the edges of one of the handkerchiefs. Needless to say, I will not be buying these again. Pity, because I really like the idea of a nice, neat uniform organic cotton kerchief, and will continue the search to update my collection elsewhere.

Very well made but slightly thick
Very soft and obviously well made, these hankies wash and dry well without much wrinkling. I love the weight of them - they are almost as heavy as a napkin, rather than a hankie, but that is fine with me as I will probably be using them more as napkins than hankies. I am allergic to the chemicals in almost all paper products and need to use non-toxic replacements for all white paper. These will suit my purposed just fine.I gave it just 4 stars because some people will prefer a thinner hankie.

Expensive but worth the price
Bought these for my 94 year old father who has used cotton handkerchiefs all his life. This was the size he wanted ... many others are too small or too large. He reports that from the first blow, it absorbed like no handkerchief he has ever owned. He had to seriously consider whether to buy these because of the cost. But he is convinced that "you get what you pay for." He believes these are worth the price.

Don't have to buy tissues or paper napkins ever again.
I decided to try using handkerchiefs to avoid having to buy tissues (to save money, create less waste, one less thing to remember to buy and store in my small home). These handkerchiefs were exactly what I was looking for -- GOTS-certified organic cotton (cotton is the largest pesticide-polluting crop* -- buying organic avoids poisoning our environment/people), bright white (because I use benzoyl peroxide acne medication on my face, which bleaches fabric) and a smooth-weave cotton rather than a fuzzy flannel cotton (my personal preference). Bonus: They're made in the USA! I was hesitant to get the largest size, but I'm glad I did. One of these will get me through the day, and then I toss it in the laundry hamper and use a new one the next day. These also work great as napkins, so I've been able to stop buying paper napkins, too. * Source: http://www.sfgate.com/homeandgarden/article/Does-cotton-clothing-contain-pesticides-3217015.php

Fabulous hankies!
I have been very happy with these. Ordered some last winter, and just recently placed another order. The handkerchiefs in the second order were stiffer than the originals, and I was not very happy with them, but the seller (also the maker) sent me a replacement within two days. She was extremely generous and helpful and I would not hesitate to do business with her again. Thanks, Jen! I have washed my original ones in the washing machine repeatedly and they are holding up very well. I wish I had switched from paper tissues years ago! As an aside, I have also purchased the flannel ones and, while I love the softness, find them a bit too thick. These are just perfect!
