Easy to do and faster than waiting for the dealership
I had Ford perform the recall for this part 4 years ago after it broke in a parking lot while the car was in reverse. Thankfully being mechanically inclined I knew to set the park brake and manually shift the car to park. It spent the day at ford to have this little bushing replaced with an "upgraded" part. Well their upgraded part just failed last week so rather than spend another day at the dealership to have them install another inferior part that I can replace myself in 10 minutes, I ordered this. The bushing snaps in easily however I do recommend removing the shift cable bracket to get the cable up to where its easy to work with (2 10mm bolts). A pair of channel locks and a gentle squeeze pushed the bushing into place, and then I just snapped it down onto the shift linkage and installed the protective cap (which was missing after it broke). So far this simple part has performed well and I grateful I didn't have to spend more time at the dealer.
