Very sturdy and well made. It's also very heavy so I'm glad it came in 4 boxes. It is relatively easy to assemble. It took my son and I approx 2 hrs to assemble. We've already Sat and laid down on it and it was comfortable. So We'll see how long it holds up...

Very comfortable. Took about 3 1/2 hrs to set up and looks great. Ran into a problem where the bottom and top are connected with a pin then a cotter pin is slid in place. Diagram show a large opening on the side to slide the 1 1/2 in pin in place. Unfortunately our model had closed slides - no opening. Took 2 people to force the sides open enough to slide the pin in backwards, had to use large tweezers and screwdriver to get cotter pin in place- as they was no room to get your hand in. The company may want to look at that or give different directions as this took us an hour to do! It is holding just fine and the results are beautifull, if not for the pin problem I would give it a solid 5.

This is going to be a long review but as I was doing my research and reading the reviews on this futon, I did not see anyone mention that it's merely impossible to move the couch from a bed position to a seating position without two people involved in the process. I tried to solve this issue with the seller and that's the response I got. "We do recommend using two people to open and close it but we routinely change the position to these frames in our office. To put it in the seating position, please push the seat and back deck forward about 1" to unlock it. Once it is unlocked, place one hand on the top of the futon and your other hand where the futon frame should fold (between the seat and back deck). While pulling the back of the frame up, push the fold down. This should help you get it into the lounge position. Once it is in the lounge position, go around front of the frame and pull the top of the back while using your knees to push the front of the seat. This should get your futon into the seating position with just one person." There are a few problems as they admit it in this email. First of all, you need two people to do the job. I'm a single mom with a little child living in a New York apartment. I do not have the second person to help me. Secondly, when I am pushing the seat and the back deck forward, the entire futon moves forward. Nothing gets unlocked. Last problem concerns this part of their statement. "...place one hand on the top of the futon and your other hand where the futon frame should fold (between the seat and back deck). While pulling the back of the frame up, push the fold down." From the this product description we can see that this futon weighs 184 pounds. So imagine pushing the fold down while with the other hand you are lifting up almost a hundred pounds. Can you do it? I can't. So if you are sure, you will not need to move the futon from a bed to a seated position alone, totally go for it. The cover is not removable but it is not a deal breaker in my opinion. As other mentioned, the instructions are still confusing. Also, one tray came broken and they never sent a replacement. I've ordered quite a few pieces of furniture on Amazon and this company is the worst.

This futon came in 4 separate boxes but all on same day. I heard it took 2 people to put together but it was a very simple build. I understand the 2 people as you do need 2 for some of it. It’s sturdy and well constructed. Also looks nice. Con- trying to go from sleeper to couch is a bit of a pain. Seems to require some skill, lol! Pros- it’s pretty great all around! Highly recommend!!

The Brentwood Tray Arm Futon is a really great looking piece of furniture and very comfortable. However, the assembly instructions leave a whole lot to be desired!!! There was also an interesting experience when one end of the futon separated at the dowel pins and started falling apart. One may wonder if the deficient assembly instructions could have contributed to the collapse of the futon. But it did not seem that way. The piece of furniture lasted about five months. With a bit of detail from the assembly details, some disassembly, extra glue, and additional support braces incorporated the futon was reassembled. Product comes in multiple packages, so id recommend waiting until all futon frame packages come in prior to trying to assemble. The manufacturer does email you, letting you know this, and let's you know that the mattress will arrive a bit after the frame due to being made to order. Over all the mattress came within 2 weeks of the frame. Everything came decently packaged. Only box damaged was the mattress box but the item it self was intact. The frame is sturdy, fairly easy to assemble. Assembled it mainly by myself with the exception of a few times where you need two people. Would be easier with two people though. The mattress will fluff up after opening. It's good quality and a nice soft material. The color wasn't exactly what I thought it'd be but I planned to use a cover sheet anyways so I'm not displeased regardless. All in all, the quality is extremely good and the extra storage and side tables are a nice bonus to have. The price is expensive but for what you get it's worth it in my opinion.

This futon and pad are an excellent addition to our home. The 100% wood frame is easy to assemble, it takes two people to complete the final assembly. The construction parts are very well engineered. The product is shipped in 4 cartons, all are somewhat heavy. The pad is compressed and very heavy. Overall I strongly recommend this product to anyone wanting a well built futon. The two drawers are an added bonus.
