Highly recommend, aesthetically pleasing!
I bought two! Great little tanks and using them as part of my berghia nudibranch cultures. I'm not using the lights or filter, but both seemed adequate for the tank size. Highly recommend...very aesthetically pleasing for my application.

Noisy pump
Pump inside the filter is extremely noisy. Sounds like it's going to fail very soon. Sending it back for a refund.

Aquarium Starter
I'm not a beginner with aquariums, but I wanted a kit that was very small for a kitchen counter. The aquarium is glass and fits one gallon of water. The glass is scratch free, and doesn't have any problems with the silicone seal. It's very clear and in very nice shape. The lid is two acrylic pieces that seat into place. This is not my favorite kind of lid as they usually fall easily, but this one seems to sit in place pretty well. It's still not preferred, as it will definitely get build up over time that will need to be descaled. The light is incredibly bright. It's an LED light, and it has a dimming function. It is much too bright to keep on the highest setting, so I appreciate the dimming. The light did not have instructions at all. You have to look at the picture on the box and create it with that as a reference. You slide the metal pieces into the sides of the light, and attach the clips. The clips do not adhere to the tank in any way. They just sit there. This means you can slide the light forward and back. I would have liked to be able to clamp the light in place. The filter has very minimal instructions. There is a small picture of how to put together all the tubing. This takes a few minutes, but is not entirely impossible. The media that fits inside the filter should be placed in a certain way, but there are not instructions for that. Just look at each piece and ascertain where they fit by the shape of them. The whole filter hangs on the side of the tank. The intake takes up a lot of room in the tank. When you turn it up to max, the water flows quickly. The filter runs quietly after the initial setup. This set does not come with a temperature strip, a heater, or an air stone or air pump. These are things just about every fish needs to survive comfortably. Even betta fish appreciate a heater. This tank is suited for extremely small fish. I would suggest looking up the space requirement for every fish you are interested in and then aiming to get them a tank that is bigger than that.I believe this is a relatively well designed tank. There are some things I would change about it if I could. I'm generally pleased with it for a tiny tank.Thank you.

Great little set up.
I’ve been keeping aquariums for as long as I can remember. It’s been a lifelong passion. In my spare time, I enjoy testing and reviewing fish tank products for Amazon. I recently decided that I wanted to get a small aquarium for my countertop to keep shrimp. When Amazon offered to send me this 1.5 gallon complete set up, I knew I wanted to check it out. I’m glad that I did.The item arrived well packaged, and in good condition. It came complete with a filter and an overhead light. The light has several spectra and levels to choose from. It plugs into a USB adapter. The filter features a skimmer, as well as flow adjustment. At maximum flow, it’s a bit too powerful for a tank of this size. However, on the lowest flow setting, it works quite nicely. As you can see from my photo, I’m still in the process of cycling the tank; however, it will nicely accommodate a few small shrimp. It might be a little too small for a betta, especially if you plan on adding any types of ornaments to the tank. That said, I planted it with some medium/low light aquatic plants that I think will do nicely. The noise level is not a problem. The whole set up was easy to assemble. The filtration quality is strong. The tank has a sleek look to it. And of course, there were no leaks. I opted not to use the lid, but one was included. It’s a good size for a countertop. As far as value, I think you would be hard pressed to find a better aquarium set up in this price range.

Beautiful, simple, and perfect for small spaces
I’m really happy with this little aquarium. The setup was quick and easy, and I love that it comes as a complete starter kit — everything you need is included, from the light to the filter, so you’re not scrambling to buy extra pieces. What stood out right away is how clear and sleek the glass is. It has a really clean, modern look that fits perfectly on a desk or countertop and makes it feel more like a décor piece than just a fish tank. The LED light adds a nice touch and really brings everything to life, and the filter keeps the water clean without taking up too much space inside the tank. It’s definitely on the smaller side at 1.5 gallons, so it’s best suited for a betta, shrimp, or a simple aquascape — but for what it is, it works beautifully.Overall, this is a great option if you’re looking for something compact, easy to maintain, and visually appealing. It’s a perfect little addition to a home or office and adds such a calming presence to the space.

NIce, modern looking tank. Installation was a little wonky. Ignore pictures showing clown fish.
This is a very attractive little aquarium. The design is quite unique and it looks very modern.Pros:- comes with most everything you need - light, filter, hood, and of course tank. The one thing that is missing is a heater- filter flows a lot of water for a small unit.- looks cool- light has different modes - wide spectrum as well as two plant modes.- light is powered by USB. Pump, however, is not.- description says it is made of "high-quality glass". I'm not sure if it is glass and not plastic, but the optical qualities are very nice. Things look very clear.Cons:- putting it together was a bit of a pain. There's a part near the filter inlet that looks like a turbine or rotor. Indeed, the instructions call it a "rotor", but I can't figure out why. It doesn't rotate or turn, and seems to serve no purpose that I can tell. It also just sits loosely on top of the filter assembly. I suspect something is either wrong or missing here.- the arms that hold the light over the tank itself weren't exactly straight - when installed on the hood they end up splayed slightly. This felt wrong and I couldn't figure out how to get them to be straight. In practice it's not a problem but its bothersome when putting together- the "lid" has many large openings. Presumably this is so to facilitate light transmission, but I worry that it will make it harder to control temperature AND will lead to excess evaporation. There was a sticker on the lid that said to remove the protective film, but I couldn't find a film to remove.- it's very small. This is evident from the dimensions (1.5 gallons) and that the description says it is a "small fish tank". But I'm pretty sure you are not going to want to try and keep clown fish in this thing.like they show in the pictures (almost certainly AI-generated). It's way too small for anything but a betta or maybe a guppy or two.- the description says it comes with a black backing. Mine didn't come with any/ I could certainly tape something to the back quite easily, but when I order something, I expect everything to be in the package.

Well made
It's darker or tinted all the way around. The light keeps the cover from opening easily

Compact Aquatic Beauty, Big Features, but Not timer friendly
If you are looking to dip your toes into the aquascaping in tight spaces—often referred to as nano or pico-aquascaping—is a highly rewarding hobby, this 1.5 Gallon Glass Aquarium Starter Kit is a compelling option that punches well above its weight class. Marketed as a Betta tank or a decorative piece for home or office, this kit proves that good things truly come in small packages. It is a fully-featured "pico" (very small) aquarium that combines aesthetic appeal with surprisingly robust hardware.Build Quality and DesignThe first thing you notice upon unboxing is the quality of the glass. At 4mm thick, the walls feel substantial and reassuringly sturdy, which is often a concern with smaller, cheaper tanks that use thinner material. The clarity is excellent, offering a distortion-free view of your aquascape. A nice design touch is the tinted back glass. This is a practical feature that serves a dual purpose: it hides unsightly cords and tubing while providing a deep, dramatic backdrop that makes colors—whether from fish or plants—pop against the dark background.Lighting That SurprisesThe lighting system is where this kit truly exceeds expectations for its size. The LED unit draws a legitimate 5 watts of power via the included USB adapter, and it is surprisingly potent. In the pico tank world, adequate lighting is often the first compromise, but not here. The output is bright enough to sustain most common low-to-medium light plants, such as petit Anubias, Java Fern, or moss. Furthermore, the ability to adjust the colour temperature and brightness is a welcome feature, allowing you to switch from a crisp daylight simulation to a warmer evening glow to suit your mood or highlight the tank's inhabitants.Filtration and FunctionalityThe Hang-On-Back (HOB) filter is a workhorse in miniature. Despite the tank’s small footprint, the filter includes a surface skimmer, which is excellent for removing oily film and keeping the water surface pristine. The internal design is also user-friendly for those who like to tinker; you can easily augment the stock filtration by adding your own bio-media to support beneficial bacteria. The Lid Assembly: A Crucial DetailUpon first glance, the plastic cover might seem like a weak point—it appears flimsy and prone to falling off. However, there is a correct assembly method that resolves this entirely. The kit includes a separate cover frame that must be fitted over the top rim of the aquarium first. Once the frame is securely in place, you then add the clear plastic cover on top of it. When assembled in this order, the cover sits firmly and stays put, eliminating any concerns about it dropping off during maintenance. With the frame providing proper support, the durability of the lid is actually quite adequate for daily use. This is one of those rare cases where reading the instructions pays off—once set up correctly, the lid functions exactly as intended. However, the kit is not without its minor flaws. The biggest annoyance is the lack of a timer function on the light. To maintain a healthy light cycle for your plants, you have to remember to manually turn it on and off every day, which can be tedious.Final VerdictDespite the minor gripes about the manual light operation, this kit is a triumph in the pico-aquarium category. It offers a dedicated, top-notch building platform for the rewarding challenge of nano-aquascaping. Working in a 1.5-gallon space is difficult, but the quality of the glass and the strength of the light mean your hard work will pay off with a stunning, tiny landscape. At its affordable price point, you get a beautiful, well-built little ecosystem that delivers the joy of the hobby without taking over your entire desk. If you are ready for the challenge, the visual rewards are astonishing.
