One of my favorite beverages for mornings, cold days, or comfort drink!
I order the Tazo Chai concentrate all the time and finally decided to do a review on it. It is my favorite and has been for years as a cold weather drink, morning drink or comfort drink. It's the same chai that Starbucks has been using. (I don't know if they are now or not because I heard something about the Oprah Chai being used?) Anyways, I like making my own at home versus Starbucks because of cost, saving myself a trip, and I can control the spiciness and sweetness of the drink by how much chai versus milk I put in.The chai can be consumed hot or cold. I prefer it hot. I put in half milk 1% and half chai. For my teenager I put in 2/3 milk and 1/3 chai since that is their personal preference. They can also be mixed cold and put over ice. You have to refrigerate the chai after opening the box.I don't know if there are directions anywhere on how long to heat it but it will depend on your microwave voltage and how much you are heating. I have a 1000 watt microwave and heat 1 1/2 cups for around 2 to 2:15 to make it warm/hot. It's the temperature where I can sip it but it can cool down and the temperature is still good. If I am going to wander around a bit, I use a tea bag buddy (even though there is no tea bag), something you can find on Amazon, to retain heat and avoid any lint or anything settling in my beverage. This Tazo Chai set of 3 has caffeine in it. There is also a decaffeinated version of it if you want one at nighttime and are caffeine sensitive, something you may be able to find at a major grocery store.

Yummy a few different ways, not too much ginger
Others have already commented on how much they like this and enjoy recreating the Starbucks chai lattes with it. Same here! Any time I've tried using chai tea bags to make a similar concoction I've been disappointed - works much better with this concentrate. I thought I'd include my little variation, though: Instead of just half chai concentrate and half milk, I make 1 1/2 cups of black tea. After it's done steeping, I add 1/4 c chai concentrate and 1/4 c milk and mix it all together for 16 oz of deliciousness. While I love the original drink, I figure I don't need that much extra sugar on a daily basis and this still has a spicy taste I love.If you're looking for caffeine info, the box says it is in the 46-60mg range for 8oz of the concentrate. Also maybe worth noting: I hate ginger in pretty much any form, and many chai drinks taste far too gingery for me, but I don't taste it at all in this for some reason.

Chai Tea at Home
There is debate in some reviews as to whether or not this is the Starbucks tea. It is, at least it's the one they sell on the website. I've bought both one from there (Starbucks) and the three pack here (Amazon), the sku number is the same. Whether its the same as the one in the store itself, I'e got no idea. Taste wise is up to you. I've found when ordering my drinks some make it strong, some make it very light, so if theres any taste problems its down to how much concentrate you put in it when you make it at home.Moving on, I love the tea, each box lasts me about a month drinking roughly an 8oz cup every or two everyday. I make it fairly strong so if you prefer a softer taste, no doubt it would last a little longer. Its a great price considering I can spend the twenty on roughly five cups buying it from Starbucks. Just like the package says, you make it hot or cold. Microwaving the milk does taste very different than stove top heating it, just FYI, so if you're picky might want to spend the time on properly heating the milk.Shipping was quick & easy. Tazo is great with customer service when I had questions about maybe returning the product (because I didn't want it if it wasn't the same as the Starbucks website). I'll definitely be buying it again once I run out.

Yum…hot or cold!
While definitely not lo-cal, this beverage is simply delicious! It’s especially good with a cinnamony coffee cake or the cinnamon and brown sugar Belvitas!

Can adjust sweetness more than thought/ & Costs far less in local food stores
So far this Tazo version is the best concentrate/mix I've encountered, but 3 caveats are inescapable:(A) I still need to add quite a bit of freshly-ground black pepper. Further, a tad (1/2 of a 1/8 tsp.) of ground cardamom gives Tazo more rounded bass notes, too, if you wish.(B) Much more important than (A) is this: at least 2/3 or more of the reviewers state the Tazo competitors they've tried are all gaggingly sweet in flavor, & only Tazo is not. Agreed. But stay awake: flavor vs. actual am't of ingested sugar are 2 entirely different things, & so finding Tazo Chai Latte at the top of such a gang of scoundrels doesn't actually mean much. Do note that Tazo's version lists "cane sugar" as the 2nd-most abundant ingredient in this product's content list (water, of course, being #1); plus the 3rd highest content = honey! That's just too much sugar for an even halfway-healthy Chai; & 100% unnecessary for a totally delicious Chai. Plus throw in all the even MORE sugar you automatically get from pouring milk into Tazo, & combine that w/any & all other sugar in your 24/7 eating habits (yes, even in fresh organic juices, whole grains, & etc.), & you're looking at a PreDiabetes diagnosis w/your name on it -- -- & years sooner than you'd thought possible, too.One way to lessen the milk sugar whallop is to try "Fair Life" milk. (If you can't find it locally, request it.) Besides giving dairy cows a much more humane life, this company processes its milk in such a way that the sugar = 50% less than regular store-bought milk. More's explained on the carton, but sure, I remain skeptical until I get around to researching this company online, & also calling them directly. Still, meanwhile it's worth a try; & in our house we find it also tastes noticeably better than standard-issue dairy milk.I've also ordered "Organic India Tulsi Tea Chai Masala" tea bags here @ Amz., since this specific brand's rated as #1 in a slew of online Best Chai Tea-bag lists. (& Yes, they claim each bag contains all the right spices, too. We shall see.) Making chai this way, w/no sugar other than the 50%-less type from either Fair Life Milk &/or any non-dairy milk sources IF they too are 50%-less or better, seems far more sane to me. Taste-test: you can always add some of your own sugar if this is still not sweet enough for you, w/out automatically upping your total sugar content per cup into the organ-damaging levels of Tazo & its even-sweeter competitors.(C) A number of reviewers here comment on the very high Tazo price here @ Amz., stating it's markedly cheaper at local stores. Noting their words, I still mistakenly assumed I live in waaaay too rural an area to find anything called "Tazo". Made the call anyway, & bingo: the very 1st local grocer not only carries it, this very same box of Tazo concentrate is 50% CHEAPER than Amazon's. Yes, you heard me: $3.00 dollars locally vs. $6.00 online! That "we can afford it" is hardly the issue, including b/c when we all factor in affordability, folks, imagine how much additional pollution, & how many types of additional pollution, are generated by all this rush-rush/at-your-door service. The additional environmental damage must be appalling. And on TOP of that, Prime is supposed to go from $79.00 to $100 per annum sometime later this year!At least 1 Reviewer tries to justify this highway-robbery inflated cost by stating "On the other hand, Amazon's Tazo is delivered right to your door", etc. -- but that bogus idea doesn't justify the 50% higher price, especially if you're already a Prime member. If you are, the extra $3 per box can't be explained away by the fast shipping: Amazon itself states you're already paying for that privilege via paying for Prime! (*rolls eyes*) And now Prime is supposed to soar up to $100 annually at some point this year. So, uh...what was that (Corporate) Reviewer telling me/ um, I mean shilling me about speed & ease Somehow also "justifying" doubling the price of a box of water flavored w/ black tea?....
