I’ve had oolong tea before, but this one is very different from any I’ve tried. I brewed it with hot water, and the resulting color was much lighter than expected. The flavor was smooth and buttery, not strong like the plain black teas I usually prefer. It didn’t get very bold, and the slight bitterness was likely because I steeped it slightly longer than recommended. Hot brewing only takes a few minutes, while cold brewing (for iced tea) takes a bit longer. Since I prefer hot tea, that’s what I reviewed. After tasting and researching true oolong tea, I suspect I’ve previously had an oolong/black tea blend. This tea looks and brews more like a green tea than a black tea. The tea bag design is unique—a pyramid shape instead of a flat bag, which allows better water flow and quicker infusion. It’s staple-free, so it should be microwave-safe. There are only 7 bags in the box, making them about $1.70 each (as of 01/08/26), which is on the pricier side for tea.

This tea has become my go-to for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up at my desk. The pyramid bags are really nice quality and allow the leaves to expand fully, which I think helps the flavor. It has a lovely roasted aroma that isn't too overpowering or bitter. I love that it brews quickly, so I don't have to wait long to enjoy a hot cup. It tastes very smooth and authentic, much better than standard bagged teas I’ve tried.
