Has potential, but BIOS 1.15 makes the system fundamentally unstable
I purchased the Minisforum UM773 Lite expecting a compact, reliable mini‑PC powered by AMD’s Ryzen 7 7735HS. On paper, the hardware looks excellent. In practice, the device suffers from a serious and repeatable stability defect that Minisforum has not resolved.1. Random Black‑Screen Crashes (Display Pipeline Collapse)The UM773 Lite experiences sudden black‑screen failures where the display shuts off entirely while the system remains powered. The machine does not reboot, does not log a crash, and does not recover. Only a hard power cycle brings it back. This is not a software issue. It is a firmware‑level GPU power‑state collapse.2. GPU Disappears From PCIe During the CrashDuring the failure:The AMD iGPU drops out of PCIe enumerationWindows logs no DxgKrnl eventsNo TDR, no WHEA, no LiveKernelEventDisplaySwitch and GraphicsCapture both log Error 15003Remote Desktop cannot reconnect because the GPU is goneThis is exactly what happens when the GPU loses power or enters an invalid ACPI state.3. BIOS 1.15 Is the Root Cause — and Minisforum Won’t Admit It PubliclyThe UM773 Lite ships with BIOS 1.15, which contains:unstable ACPI power tablesfaulty iGPU power‑gating behaviourVRM power‑state instabilityincorrect low‑power transitions for the RDNA2 GPUMultiple Venus‑series models using the F7BFD board (UM773 Lite, UM780, UM790, UM560XT, UM750L Slim) have the same issue.Minisforum engineering has already produced newer BIOS versions (1.17, 1.18, 1.20, 1.23, 1.25) to fix these problems — but they are not posted publicly, and support refuses to provide them unless a ticket is escalated.4. Support Provides Irrelevant Advice Instead of FixesInstead of acknowledging the firmware defect, Minisforum support repeatedly suggests:reinstalling Windowsupdating AMD driversdisabling WDDMdownclocking memoryre‑flashing BIOS 1.15None of these resolve the issue because the problem is not software‑related. It is a hardware/firmware stability fault.5. This Is Not an Isolated CaseOther owners of Venus‑series devices with the same board ID (F7BFD) report identical symptoms:black screensGPU vanishingsystem still poweredno crash logsrequires hard rebootThis is a pattern, not a one‑off defect.6. The Hardware Is Good — The Firmware Is NotThe Ryzen 7 7735HS is a capable chip. The chassis is well‑built. Thermals are acceptable. But none of that matters if the system cannot remain stable under normal operation.Until Minisforum publicly releases a fixed BIOS for the UM773 Lite, this product cannot be recommended.⭐ VerdictThe Minisforum UM773 Lite has potential, but BIOS 1.15 makes the system fundamentally unstable. The device suffers from a repeatable GPU power‑state collapse that Minisforum has not resolved publicly. Unless Minisforum provides the updated engineering BIOS for the F7BFD board, buyers should avoid this model.
