The Shannara Chronicles - Season 2 [DVD] [2018]

A year has passed, threats now greater than ever before. If the Warlock Lord is awakened, it could mean the end of all that is good in The Four Lands. Legend decrees he can only be defeated by the Shannara and Druid. This seems increasingly unlikely as setbacks mount. Many will die. A few of those deaths may surprise....Teen fantasy. As before, those wishing to do so will find much to criticize. Certain cast clearly chosen for looks rather than acting ability. Too much trite dialogue. Some dodgy special effects. Several ludicrous "in the nick of time" escapes. Perhaps more serious this time round, liberties taken with events in the original novels.Far better than nit-pick, some may prefer simply to sit back and make the most of what is presented here. That was my policy. Admittedly Austin Butler seems a little lightweight for Wil the Shannara, but he is likeable and one hopes he will succeed. With more depth than most is Bandon, he now with evil intent - largely because of all who made him suffer when younger. Surely he is destined for a change of heart, perhaps even to save the day? Visually there is much to admire: imaginative sets, some glorious scenery. Good action too.Ten episodes. No bonuses. A third season was intended, but apparently this is not to be.In short? Potential may not have been realized, but there is still much to please.

This was epic. Will is such a great character and the new additions are awesome. So sad to find out this is the last season of the show. It totally deserved better and so did we. Still it a great season and will be watching it again and again as the fantasy is brilliant.

Mangled concept of Shannara. The storyline was awful. The production team took a magnificent story arch and totally destroyed it with their modernised concept. The only saving grace were the actors.

I wish the season 2 set had been longer. Now I have to wait hopefully for Season 3. I'm told it is very different to the books.
