Marriage straight from Scripture
This is the book I have been looking for. In my experience, MANY Christian marriage books are loaded with personal advice and nice-sounding but thinly-founded pragmatism. Many are full of personal stories and examples to the point of distraction. There is a certain place for such things, but even many of the best books require a lot of filtering to get to the real, biblical meat, it seems to me. And that is why I so appreciate this book by Stuart Scott. No filtering necessary. Just content. It's like a full, hearty, rich steak-and-potato meal in the midst of a buffet full of cheap cereals or something.I find the book very engaging, but not because it is entertaining. It is engaging because the content is pure gold and I long to be a better husband unto the Lord and for the sake of my lovely wife, so I eat it up eagerly. The entire focus is unpacking and applying what Scripture has to say about marriage from a husband's perspective. There are some personal anecdotes, but the vast majority is very keenly focused on the simple application of Scripture, which makes this book as timeless as the truths it is founded upon.It is very well-written, clear, and to the point, with very few frills. Lists of application points galore. Lots of very well-organized sections and sub-sections with clear headings, making it easy to navigate and understand. Personally, I have placed sticky notes on the sections where I know I have struggles. Beyond the first readthrough, I will certainly use this book as a reference point for personal edification for years to come because the material is so easy to find and so clearly and cleanly presented. This would be a fantastic book for a man preparing for marriage, but, because its focus is pretty much just Bible, it is also very, very good for ANY husband.Encouraging, convicting, applicational, compelling, and motivating, all without the frills or jokes. HIGHLY recommend for any man who wants to take his role as a husband seriously and serve the Lord by loving his wife very well.

Best book I have read on marriage
I have read a lot of secular and Christian books on marriage and this is the best one. It is biblically based and draws a beautiful picture of how to honor God in your marriage. If you live in your marriage the way God intended, it can be such a blessing and beautiful experience. I would say be cautious on books whose author's claim Christianity, but use human psychology models to approach marital problems. I have read a lot of these books and their approach can lead to worse results in your marriage. Marriage was created by God and he has a plan for how it should be lived out--that is laid out in this book.

Good book for husbands to grow with a Christian perspective.
Book was good for those who want to become a better husband. Also for those who are going to become husbands in the near future. Definately need to read it in bits and pieces and then think about what was read. For myself not going to be using everything that I read, but would still recommend the book nonetheless.

Biblically Saturated and Extremely Convicting
If you are a husband struggling to grow in loving and understanding your wife, then please read this book. It will give you biblical tools to implement in your own life while always keeping the focus on Christ and His Word.

Excellent book
Every Christian man needs to read this book. It is challenging and convicting. Unlike many other marriage books, this book does not shy away from the challenging issues, but it does so both practically AND graciously by pointing readers to Christ. Too often such books can crush men under the law without showing them Christ. This book captures both Law and Gospel - a welcome combination!

Inspiring to say the least
If you get this book you will have the keys to the kingdom and wisdom to sanctify your marriage. Provided of course, you apply what you learn. Build on the foundation and never look back to your sins of the past. God is giving you a great tool here, through Stuart Scott, be thankful and use it..

Review
I do believe this books has good insight, but I believe it should be met with the attitude of challenging the book. It is filled with many Biblical references, which is great. I do not like the fact that the books makes it seem as though a husband's opinion/understand of the Bible is more valuable than that of a wife's. I also don't like the fact that it seems to make it as though a wife is "just there" in a marriage. I see this attitude in many places. In short, I think it's a good book but, as I previously said, should be met with a challenging attitude. I also would not recommend it for someone who is new to The Faith.

Not an easy read, but definitely worth it!
This book is not an easy read! This is unapologetically a deeply Christian book, a deeply Christian read.I recommend The Exemplary Husband to any and every man even thinking of marriage, but would suggest that it should be compulsory for every man preparing for marriage; not only for the Christian but for the non-Christian, too. So much confusion, so many problems, so much heartache and sorrow could be avoided.

Title Misleading - This is the Teacher's Guide!
I wanted to order the book "The Exemplary Husband", which is what this title says, but I received the teacher's guide. Looking carefully at the image, this is what it is. Be careful when ordering that you get the book!

Highly recommended
My pastor recommended this book to my husband. It is very well written biblically and practically. We recommend this book to all husbands who want to be a godly husband and want God be the center of their marriage. Through this book and our pastor's help, God is working in our marriage. Hope God brings blessings in your marriage as well. There is also a book for the wives-- The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace
