Will this fit a iPhone 6 Plus?

What is the width on what it can fit inside?

It easily fit my iPhone 6 and new iPhone 7 Plus (using a slim case). There is still a little room to spare, but I don't think it will work for an iPad. Hope this helps.

How do you mount this on a tripod? Do I have to buy an extra part?

My tripod is an older model with a 3/8" screw ("male") , so I will need an adaptor for the mount's 1/4" hole ("female"). You can find these adaptors online, and they shouldn't cost much.

Is it made of plastic or metal?

Not just "plastic", but high-impact ABS. The mold was well-designed, and all screw threading is metal toothed insert, so this thing is rock solid.
