I had high hopes for this documentary but it was merely ok.
As a big fan of Indy car racing I was hoping for a little more from this documentary. Scott Dixon is now a 5 time series champion as of today as well as the 2008 INDY 500 winner. He ranks 3rd on the all time list behind only AJ Foyt and Mario Andretti. I was expecting to know more about his backstory, besides the very scary crash he had at INDY in 2017. What did Chip Ganassi see in Scott and how did he get signed? It doesn't show you when he won his other series championships. The film follows much of Scott Dixon's 2017 season rehabilitating from his INDY 500 crash and coming back strong to win Road America that year and almost win the championship. Throughout the film it shows you glimpses of his early childhood in Go-karting and how his family sacrificed a lot for him to be able to fulfill his dream about driving at the highest level of his sport. He struck gold when he signed on to Chip Ganassi Racing and has been one of the best drivers on the planet ever since. In the movie Chip Ganassi kind of comes off as woe is me, trying to catch the big bad Roger Penske the top team. When in reality Ganassi is a very close number 2 in the strength of team. His crew was hardly a low level under achieving team far from it. So I thought a little bit of that was playing up to the cameras. Ganassi has had massive success in the INDY car series for years. With just about every driver Dario Franchitti, Dan Whelden along with Dixon his team consistently had the 3 strongest drivers on any grid despite the power of Penske. With massive backing from sponsors such as TARGET.You get to see Scott with his family doing normal everyday things when he is not racing. He seems to be a great quiet everyday dude, but his focus and concentration driving an indy car is amazing. If anything the film shows you how far car safety has come after his massive crash at INDY. a decade ago that crash would have killed him or crippled him for sure. it's kind of a miracle he didn't receive more damage than he did. That is what makes IndyCar racing so alluring the danger is there and it is real one mistake can you could be in dire straits. Dan Wheldon's crash at Las Vegas is in the film and it was tragic and sad.I would rate the film 3 1/2 to maybe a low 4 stars. A lot of people get interviewed and I liked a lot of commentary but felt like the film could have been stronger.

Incredible movie
For anyone with a tiny bit of interest in racing this movie is INCREDIBLE. Scott Dixon and Mike Hull are two of the most amazing people out there. To get a peek behind the scenes of Scott's world is a treat. They really did a good job showcasing what racers deal with and how they go about a season.

Excellent inside look at the greatest active Indycar Driver
This is a wonderful documentary about "The Ice Man," the coolest, calmest driver in one of the world's fastest motorsports, Indycar racing. See all the details of the preparation, the team, the family, the heartbreak, the victories. Scott Dixon is the greatest active driver and one of the 2 or 3 greatest of all time, alongside AJ Foyt and Mario Andretti. In 2018, he went on to win his 5th Indycar championship at the age of 38. And he is driving at his peak, so the next few years will continue to be exciting.

Decent documentary of Scott Dixon's race season.
Overall a good documentary of a race season, though I was a little let down that it did not cover as much of his early race development as I would have hoped for with a name like "Born Racer." I would have probably given 5 stars if I had know it was primarily about one season before watching it, but I made assumptions based on the title alone. Still recommend it though.

IndyCar lovers treat
IndyCar racing is my favorite type of auto racing but even if you are a racing fan this behind the scene story of one of the best ever in this sport captures the life of Scott Dixon on and off the track . You learn about his life from his early years up to the present. You get to see some great behind the scenes and racing at the different tracks in the series. All in all it captures a year in the life of a great racer.

Nothing new
A very casual fan or someone new to Indycar may find this really enlightening and interesting. If you're like me and you watch all the races and follow some of the news (and not fanatically), there's really nothing new or particularly interesting here. You absolutely won't learn anything new about Scott Dixon, and other than the scenes of him at his house playing with his kids, you really don't see or learn anything you wouldn't see during the Indy telecasts. In fact, this thing really has the flavor of something they'd play during a long rain delay.I'm glad I saw it, but it strikes me more as something you'd watch as a freebie on Prime than something I paid $15 to own on DVD.

I enjoyed it a lot.
I'm an Indycar fan, so of course I would like something like this. The behind the scenes information was fascinating, and it was good to see the personality of Dixon. My respect for him (which was already high) has increased.
