Not sure, as I use them for gift wrapping. These are made of solid cloth fabric (not the thin flimsy type) and seem like they would be washable.

Is this silk? Is it good for ribbon embroidery?

It's more satin it's good ribbon I do a lot of crafts with it but I don't do embroidery so not sure if it would be good for that.

Is this American made?

No. The label says, "MADE IN CHINA."

Is this real silk ribbon or false advertising? I hesitate ordering anything from China lately as they use that word quite liberally and rarely is silk

Some of it was silk ribbon, some of it wasn't. I used it to make bows for a Cabbage Patch doll with pony tails so it was acceptable. It you are spending a lot of time on a craft I suggest you look elsewhere.
