Q: how many prepackaged bags of 8oz do you get?

I don't buy any of the poisonous imitation nectar. I make my own. 4 cups of boiling water to 1 cup white pure cane sugar. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Allow mixture to cool before putting in a clean hummingbird feeder. Left over mixture can be stored in a clean, closed container in the fridge for up to a week. Make sure to clean feeder every other day before putting in new mixture.

Q: Is there red dye in the nectar?

I haven't purchased this in awhile, but the "nectar" is red. As sucrose isn't generally red I'm going to go with ,yes there is red dye in the powder! It works great and the hummingbirds flocked to the feeder. Could it be because of the dye? Who knows, but due to the hyperactivity after they drank it I wasn't able to study the long term effects! Hummingbirds couldn't get enough of it!
