BOSCH BT160 63 in. Aluminum Contractor's Tripod

I have been using another tripod with telescoping legs. What a pain. This one does not have leg bend stops which makes it easy set up on uneven hillsides. It is strong. The leg points have tabs to step on and push them into the soil. The quick release adjustments are such a dream after telescoping legs. It is just so fast and secure. Another thing I didn't expect are the built in straps. There is a snap strap to wrap around the legs and secure the legs during transport. And then there is the carry strap. I haven't tried shoulder carry (it seems a little short for that). For hand carrying it is a big plus. Every thing about this tripod is solid. The only way to secure this to equipment is with the sliding 5/8"-11 male thread. I was able to get a tap at my local Ace hardware. If that is not what your devise requires you will need an adapter. The screw is secured though a slot plate, has large slot grip knob, and a plumb bob hook centered in the bottom of the knob. There are no adapters, cases, know. plumb bob included with the tripod. I would definitely recommend this to friends.

I was surprised how big this tripod was when it arrived. I was expecting a nice but puny tripod where I am rest my laser but instead I got a tripod similar to those you’d use on vintage movie cameras! It looks like it will last a long time. Good aluminum legs with metal base and latches. Nothing that looks like it will break. The location of the arm strap is a bit because it prevents you from locking that leg when fully extended. I think I will remove it. Either way, a sensational deal at under $30.

Purchased this to use with the Bosch GOL26 optical level. Not a bad tripod at this price, appears to be well made. I will not be able to evaluate how well it stands up under use, since I returned it to Amazon along with the 'POC' Bosch GOL26. Am disappointed that Amazon didn't give a full refund on this (made me pay return shipping). Tripod is lightweight, easy to carry around, and the binding straps serve as carrying handles. You'll have to hang on to the little rubber tips covering the leg "spikes", they'll be easy to lose, then you wont have em when you need to set up on a hard surface. The BT 170 seems to have a better system in that regard, although I haven't tried it out.

Works as advertised. Great tripod used when using my level when plotting out the elevations in my backyard.

Very sturdy and well made. Excellent value. I have a telescope mounted on it.

i have 3 or 4 tripods, cameras, and of course this one of them all, this one levels very fast with the locks that just press down. getting the top level before placing the transit just speeds everything up and this one sets up in about a minute

Valued for money.

To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this tripod. It is solidly designed and built and everything functions smoothly. It has enough mass to stand firmly, yet is light enough to pack around. A very good value. As with most similar tripods, it has a 5/8-11 male threaded fitting. I bought an adapter from Amazon so that I could also use equipment with a 1/4-20 female connection. Very happy with this purchase.

Incredibly sturdy. I've taken off the carrying strap as it makes clamping one of the legs very awkward.
