This is the second pair of these boots. The first pair wore like iron and lasted me for 3 years though I should have replaced them at 2 years when the waterproofing died. Take note on the pair you get - make sure they are straight and the quality is up to your desires. The first pair I got once upon a time was not straight (not from Amazon) and I returned them for the pair that I wore out (from Amazon). Now, with the second pair purchased, the heal separated with normal wear in the first month and Amazon replaced them. That said, despite the quality / consistency issues that I have experienced, I will order them from Amazon again in a couple years because I have loved wearing these boots through rain and snow in comfort with dry feet.

First off, let me say that this happened quite a while ago and I hemmed and hawed about writing a review or not. Obviously the sting of this order is still on the surface and I figured if it happened to me, chances are great that there is someone else out there going through the same issue. I really do like these boots (Distressed Tan), no doubt about it, but there are a 2 factors that really sink them for me. Number 1 - there are a lot of construction issues with these boots (i.e. seams not lining up properly, different "shades" of leather on the same boot, but the "Made in China" explained that. Honestly I could've overlooked this issue.). Number 2: ~and this is the issue that really irks me ~ I ordered and returned this boot 4 times for one reason - the color/shade of the leather I ordered was NOT the color I received. I ordered the Distressed Tan, only to receive the Oily Brown. This happened 4 times - and happened after I personally spoke to quite a few customer service reps. I even e-mailed the item in the correct color of leather to the reps so they could see exactly what I was talking about and all of them told me that I received what i ordered. Now I'm not color blind, nor am I a stupid man, but I sure as heck can tell the difference between Distressed Tan and Oily Brown. Look at the pictures - it's not difficult to discern. Nothing angers me more than being told I received what I ordered when I'm holding the item in my hand and telling them that the color/shade of the leather is NOT right! And then, adding insult to injury, I was spoken to with such dissension and arrogance it forced me to lower myself to that level by asking them if they could tell the difference between brown and black. When they sharply replied yes, I asked them why then can you not differentiate between the color I ordered and the color I received. Getting nowhere fast from each order and each service rep, I called Dan Post HQ and personally spoke with one of their representatives. She told me, point blank, that the advertisement of these boots is flat out wrong and I should have been told that the dye of the leather determines what color is available. Other than black, the only color that should've been advertised is the Oily Brown. You definitely take a chance when ordering these boots, and in my case - 100% of the time, you will not get what you order despite being told otherwise. To this day I still do not own a pair of boots because I have yet to find something I like as much as these - in the correct shade of leather, mind you. To sum it up quickly -- "Buyer Beware!!!"

These boots were labeled as "Extra Wide" and were incredibly tight (made in Vietnam). My Dan Post "Blayde" boots, also in Extra Wide, are actually roomy (made in China). I wasted an hour of my life mailing back Albuquerque boots, emailed company and never heard back. Fake size.

Good boot, just a little larger than expected as I ordered a little big thinking that actual size would be too small.... returned for a little smaller size.
