Just Barely Passed
Pretty well written. But the exam had a some terms that were a bit different from this book. I kept getting 77% on the practice tests for this book. I feel like I got a 70% at best on the actual exam. I did not use any other study material.

this is a great book, but like every test prep book
Overall, this is a great book, but like every test prep book, it sometimes misses the mark. The resources provided should be checked out BEFORE you take the exam, as I am sure quite a few of them expand upon topics in the book that are glossed over.Pros:* This was the only study guide I used and I passed my exam on the first try* The online practice test gives you a visual chart of your strengths and weaknesses that is color coded, which really does help you focus on what needs to be studied more in depth.Cons:* The online practice tests and the ones in the book are the same. Don't fall into the trap of believing you improved tremendously when you take both, particularly in a short window of time. Average out the scores of both practice tests to find your average and use that number.* Like many prep books, the practice tests give you a false sense of confidence because the questions are easier. Take time to research many of the glossed over ESE categories and their characteristics thoroughly. There were quite a bit of application/what should you do questions that seem to have no correct. The end result is exactly what I wanted, I received a passing score. Don't let the first few questions on the exam itself shake your confidence!I studied this guide actively for a month prior to the exam, though should have taken an additional month or so to allow for additional research and more thorough prep.

I passed!!
The organization of this book was excellent!!! Especially for someone who has not taken a two hour exam for several years. I would definitely take the online test first. This will pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses and allow you to focus on what's important. It can be overwhelming of where to start and this book gives you direction on where to start and aligns with the test. Many books are not updated like this book. They updated the ese k-12 test in 2018 so make sure you study current content.

Very Good Study Guide!!
Took the test today for the first time and I passed!! This study guide is extremely helpful I read the book throughly and I took notes as I was reading. Initially I thought I would be able to read and retain all the skills but for me it was almost impossible to remember everything. I got a note book and took notes from each chapter paraphrasing and putting them in my own words I do find it was easier for me to not only have a better understanding of the material but to retain what I read. As a supplement which was helpful I did the navaED webinar on line along with the navaEd study guide. Combining them was well worth the time and money. During the test I could actually recall similar questions on the practice test. I can honestly say I was well prepared for the test. My advice to people prepping for this test dont cram, take time to read, comprehend and digest the skills you've learned. I study for 4 months and it was worth it. In closing I was not paid or offered anything for my review I think it would be helpful because when I was looking for a study guide reviews helped me in making an informed decision.

I passed the first time and this study guide did a great job in helping me review for the exam
I used this study guide as my only resource for the FTCE ESE K-12 exam. I passed the first time and this study guide did a great job in helping me review for the exam. It is very well structured and easy to read. In my opinion the best way to study using this guide is by breaking it up by "skills" and use the practice tests as quizzes to review each skill. Each chapter has its own quiz as well but this helps cover the material more deeply. The skills are broken up into which questions they focus on so its a pretty structured and effective method to test what you have learned. Highly recommend this book for anyone studying to take the FTCE ESE K-12 exam.

Overall, a useful study guide
This book covers >80% of the material on the test. I passed the first time I took the test. This is the only study source I used, and I did not have any classes/background experience to draw from. There were some questions that I had no idea on, but if you go through every chapter and take the practice tests, it is completely possible to pass using this book as your primary study source.

Passed!
I only used this book and studied it cover to cover for a week. The study guide was easy to read and I loved the end of chapter quizzes and online tests. The ESE state test was similar in structure, but much more detailed. There is a lot of terminology and laws not covered in this study guide. If you have never taught or been to college to be a teacher, this test would have been difficult, but still passable. Having said this, I passed the state ESE test 1st time.

Passed at my first try!
Material is factual and to the point. I truly appreciated how the exams posted in the website helped me pinpoint areas of weakness (the code is actually at the end of the kindle version, which is the one I purchased). I did complement my reading with some research on the FLDOE website, specially on the parents’ section. One more thing that gave me an edge was that I had worked with kids who ended up being labeled by the end of the school year in the recent past so I had ideas about what he process is like and what the kids’ behavior and needs are (at least a vague idea.)
