Pet Hair & Dust Terminator
I actually prefer this over a Dyson stick-particularly when it comes to picking up pet hair out of the carpet. I moved into a new home which had been vacuumed and purportedly shampooed carpets except-- this brand new, out of the box picked up all of this in the living room alone. 😳 I had had this model a couple of years ago but then was gifted a used Dyson stick. I have since repurchased this vacuum because when it comes to clean- pet hair and dust in particular -I find this to be far superior. It is very easy to put together with a couple of clicks and the tools get the job done in quick order. It has an added benefit of being able to put in an anti-allergen filter. It's lightweight, easy to manage, and who doesn't love the automatic rewind recoil of the cord function? One Note: this review is for the blue model; the teal is also a pet-centered machine, but they are not the same. I cannot speak to the quality of that one, as it's a different model. Fantastic cleaning power!

Works well. Different colors are different models
Please make sure to understand that the different colors are different models with different features. Don't just pick the color you like. I bought the teal that has cord rewind. Good suction and pulls up a lot of cat hair. Reasonable price. Works well on low carpet and linoleum. Not cordless but has a reasonable length cord. Cons: no light and brush keeps running when using hand tool. Also back wheels are too big to get under the base of kitchen counters. Can fit straight on or at an angle. Overall I wanted a mid range vacuum with decent suction without taking a second mortgage on the house to pay for it. Cheaper vacums don't pick up cat litter and they clog up again and again. No problems with this one so far. Would buy again.

Great for Getting Rid of Cat Hair
I got it a few days ago and finally had the chance to take it for a spin. Assembly wasn't difficult, the unit felt very sturdy once I got that part down, and the size wasn't cumbersome to make storage an issue (at least for me). For me, it's a bit heavy but I'm just getting back fit after a long illness and I'm taking it as a sign that I need strength training.I have tile floors and vacuuming up a plowder's worth of hairballs (7; pray for me) was very easy. Hardly any fly-aways compared to sweeping with a broom first, and I was able to clean three rooms in under 20 minutes. I also loved that I could clean the floor AND have attachments to get into spots that would otherwise have been trickier to access. So far, I am very happy with my purchase.

If you have pets that shed you're gonna want this thing!
I have had this vacuum for 2.5 years now, so I think that's a pretty good amount of time to know what's good and bad about it. My previous vacuum was a Dyson Ball Animal, which I had for five or six years, so that's what I'm comparing it to. Overall the Bissell is a good vacuum, mainly because the suction power is amazing. Even when my Dyson was new it didn't have the suction power that the Bissell does, and for the last few years before it died I was having to use one of those scraper tools to pull all the cat hair up out of our rugs first before vacuuming, which was very labor intensive. We currently have 13 cats in the house, so it's extremely important for us to have a reliable vacuum that works very well and can handle all the cat hair. The Bissell can do that!So here are the main things I like about this vacuum: it has absolutely no trouble pulling ALL the cat hair out of the rugs, and of course hardwood/tile floors are no problem. The little side bristles help to pull in dirt and hair next to baseboards, which is also really helpful. It's very lightweight and swivels on a dime, so it's easy to handle. The tank is large and very easy to empty, and even when hair gets stuck up around the filter, it's big enough to reach into. That was a problem with the Dyson, because hair would get stuck up near the top but it was almost too small to reach into so I'd have to use a hangar to get everything out. I also like that the cord retracts, and there's a little thing near the top of the handle that you can clip the cord into to help keep it out of the way. Changing the belt is fairly easy - but I'll get into that later. The things I don't like as much: The hose works fine and some of the tools are good, like the one with the brush on it, but it could be improved. This is one area where the Dyson was much better - the hose was longer and had a sort of handle, and everything was better quality. The Bissell tools are cheap and don't work as well, especially the "triple action brush roll" that's supposed to pick up cat hair. I have tried and tried to figure out how to make that thing work and it just doesn't. That is probably the biggest disappointment with the Bissell - I absolutely need an attachment that picks up cat hair to vacuum the couch, chairs, and everything else that gets covered in hair. The Dyson has an attachment like that with little rotating heads that works incredibly well. Fortunately, it fits on the Bissell hose! If you have pets I highly recommend buying that attachment by itself to use with the Bissell. It's the Tangle-Free Turbine Tool that goes with the Dyson Animal DC40 upright vacuum. I also still use the "articulating hard floor tool" that came with the Dyson, because the Bissell doesn't have anything like that and it fits on the Bissell hose. The Bissell corner tool may be useful if you have carpeted stairs but I don't have stairs and have never found a use for it.The Bissell is bigger than the Dyson and doesn't fit under things as well. Also, when using the hose you have to be very careful not to pull too much or the whole vacuum will fall over because it's so lightweight. I have learned that you have to hold onto it or lay it down to use the hose. Also, over time it has gotten louder; I'm not sure why. Those things are all minor annoyances. The main negative is the same thing many other people have mentioned - the belt breaks too easily. I'd had it less than two months when the belt broke, because I had the vacuum sitting on the edge of a rug that had fringe. While I was busy vacuuming under something with the hose, it somehow sucked the fringe up and I guess it got clogged and that snapped the belt. I was prepared for that because of other reviews, so I ordered more belts from Bissell and they arrived pretty quickly. In the directions it tells you to remove the screws from the plate on the bottom, but there is one more than it says there are. After a few minutes I figured out how to get the belt in the right place and around the roller, put everything back together, turned it on, and there was immediately a horrible noise and I swear flames came out of the vacuum before I could get it turned off. I took the bottom plate off again and not only was the new belt broken but the roller was also broken. I'm not sure what happened because I followed the directions. I contacted Bissell support and told them what happened, and it took them a couple of days to respond, but when they did they said those things aren't usually covered by the warranty but that they would send me a new roller and belt free of charge! They arrived pretty quickly. The roller was a different color than the original, but I wasn't going to gripe about a free replacement. This time after I reinstalled everything it worked perfectly.Since then it has worked great, and no more broken belts! I have learned to be somewhat careful with it. If you buy this vacuum be aware that the suction is so good it will suck up small rugs (like bath mats), and don't roll over small cords or anything loose that could get tangled up in the roller. I never worried about that with the Dyson because even if something did get sucked up I could just pull it out. The Bissell is not as sturdy but will EAT things if you're not careful.Bottom line - even with the minor annoyances I would buy this vacuum again in a heartbeat just for the suction alone, but the price definitely helps.

Shark Who? This Bissell Gets the Job DONE
I bought this Bissell after my Shark vacuum finally pushed me over the edge — and I have zero regrets. After reading a bunch of reviews, I gave this one a shot, and so far, I'm very pleased. It’s lightweight, easy to maneuver, and — most importantly — nice and sucky (in the best way possible). It handles the fur storm from my two cats and two dogs like a champ. Easy to empty, and the included tools actually come in handy — no gimmicks here.If you’re on the fence, just go for it. This vacuum is powerful, user-friendly, and a major upgrade from my last frustration machine.

Great vacuum.
Bought this for the second floor of one of one of my houses so I don't have to carry my heavy Hoover up narrow, steep converted attic stairs. Second floor, about a thousand square feet, is all carpeted and this worked fine. Attic was probably converted in the 1950s to two bedrooms, sitting room, hallway and half bath and I am pretty sure this vacuum pulled some 1950s dirt out of the carpets up there. Really great suction. Foot controls, handle release and power are a bit difficult to hit first try and I have small feet, but this is a minor inconvenience. My first bagless vacuum. Don't miss the bags. Easy to dump cylinder.
