Super Rock Solid Guitar for a Semi-Hollow Body
First of all, I'm a very analytical person and I definitely take my time before making decisions on purchases that reflect my personality and provide the functions I desire. I'm truly impressed with the Viking Deluxe Tremar based on performance, overall craftsmanship, price, feel and sound diversity. I've taken my time playing this guitar through my Marshall, Fender Twin and Line 6 Spider Valve MkII before writing about it. Now that I'm emotionally attached, here's my review.I've tried other '335 copies that felt weak and flimsy compared to how solid this guitar feels. The neck feels strong, as in it doesn't flex when moving around and thus changing pitch like an Epiphone Sheraton I previously had which to me says the neck joint is put together well. The fret board is amazing - smooth, fast, and responsive to the touch with nice pearloid inlays. I've read others have had problems with sharp fret ends on some Hagstroms but that may have been due to issues with humidity/wood hydration because this neck is smooth with no fret protrusions. The in-house Hagstrom made tuning keys are unique and feel smooth to tune - no "wiggle" to the keys. The design is well crafted from the binding to the cut wood inside the "S" holes. The Tremar "tremolo" system is built by Hagstrom and the weighted tip on the arm feels natural in your hand. Also, new to me, is the fact that it does not "dive" like a Floyd Rose or Fender pivot tremolo which is fine with me since I found out from my guitar tech buddy that this design mimicks the Bigsby Vibrato system (often called "tremolo" but the effect in music is called vibrato) of the 40's made for the nice vibrato effect. I keep using the term "SOLID", well this guitar weighs 8.5 lbs on my scale. It's hardware and wood center block probably give this guitar most of its weight along with the front and back. Just get a wide, comfy guitar strap and you'll be fine. This sides are solid and have a deep sound when you knock on its hollow body portion. I know this design gives this guitar its incredible sustain. From clean to overdrive to complete saturation, this guitar gives an amazing tone and bite. Neck vs. bridge pick up has a nice distinction and both pick ups have enough "power" that I have to roll back the volume knobs to soften up the attack on clean channels but the natural overdrive sounds good too. I'm still waiting for a case to protect my guitar to take it to a gig. Enough for now, I hope to give an update on it's road worthiness in the future.

A Guitar for a Lifetime
I give the Hagstrom Tremar Viking Deluxe Electric Guitar a five star review simply because this guitar is not only as beautiful as the pictures, it is easy to play, tune and came out of the box ready to tune. I was playing within minutes of opening it up. I played for nearly an hour before I even plugged it into my amp ~ and then wow, I loved it even more. I truly believe that I will have this guitar for a lifetime. The fit, finish and overall look, sound and unique flair will not disappoint. I did my research and compared too many guitars to count. This came down to one of the finalist, due to many of the attributes that were important to me, such as the complete access to the frets near the pickups and having a tremolo (tremar, vibrato). I looked at many guitars on line and especially the video reviews by musicians. Of course I realize many great guitarist can seemingly make most guitars sound great, but balancing what I heard with the comments by these players it wasn't really hard to "qualify" my contenders. Of course finding this model or waiting for my local shop to order it was an option, but after my research I took the chance and ordered on line and really happy I did. I also have looked closely at the workmanship and find it to be excellent. I have seen where some seem to be unlucky and find some problems with frets needing filing and such, but this was not the case with mine. I could not find anything wrong with it. For me, it is all about sound and ease of playing first. This fits this without any doubts. Secondly, it is also about looks. Well, Hagstrom has some very unique styling's, such as the tuner heads, the head itself, and just the overall look. I could not be happier with the sound and the beauty. I love being able to play unplugged sometimes, when my wife is home and we are watching TV (LOL) ~ it can be heard without being intrusive to others around ~ of course I could just plug in and wear my headphones as well to get all the effects, but sometimes my need to play AND be with my wife happens at the same time without the need to be the center of attention! If you get a chance to get one, don't worry, if you've done your homework, you will not be disappointed.

Love my Hagstrom
I love my Hagstrom, it sounds great but not as light as my LAVA 4 Carbon in comparison, but still a beatiful looking guitar with very good workmanship and lines. I was able to adjust the pick-up on my own without difficulty with the included Allen key.

As cool as the picture!
Always wanted a nice electric semi hollow jazz guitar.I read up on all of them and decided to save up a bit more of my gig money and go with Hagstrom!I'm a more of a song writer singer rhythm player acoustic man but aspire to learn to do more lead work in my songs.Feels so nice and so easy on the fingers. Great action out of the box.The knob for the whammy bar comes in a separate plastic bag. Not sure how it's supposed to stay in place.Probably gorilla glue it.
