Sunday Riley Tidal Deep Hydration and Plumping Serum

My favorite hyaluronic acid serum. Having tried dozens of HA serums, creams and gels across the price spectrum, I keep coming back to Sunday Riley's Tidal. It's the easiest to apply, with simple to use pump dispenser and a gel-liquid consistency that stays where you put it, absorbs quickly, with no sticky or other unpleasant feel or scent. In the premium skincare realm the price is, if not reasonable, at least not terrifying, and a bottle lasts a good long time—a month or two with daily use. Hyaluronic Acid is one of the best bang-for-your-buck skincare ingredients out there. It helps your skin better absorb and retain moisture and can have slight plumping effect in the process, helping mute fine lines and making sure dry or mature skin doesn't look so, well, dehydrated and old. Works on all skin types, extremely gentle and noticeably effective, have bought this one time and again.

I love the product because it’s obvious there’s no additives to make it smell “good”. There is a slight smell to it but it’s not noticeable when it fully absorbs. It does leave a slight tackiness to it if you use a ton. I suggest using a small amount first to see how it feels. A little goes along way which in my opinion is worth the money. All of my Sunday Riley products last a minimum of ten months. It also leaves a beautiful natural glow to the skin.

This one is a really good hydration serum. Keeps my face hydrated and looking fresh all day

The Sunday Riley Tidal Deep Serum comes in a lovely glass bottle but oddly the top is a flimsy plastic top. In fact, when I opened the box, I was surprised that the serum did not come leaking out as the pump lid was not properly screwed on and it was barely threaded on. The bottle itself is a beautiful shade of blue and in thick glass but it is odd that they opted for this cheap feeling plastic pump top. The texture itself is surprising as it is like a gel/serum consistency but with the look and feel of watery cream--if that makes sense. It pumps easily and while it is different in consistency, do not use too much--with this a little goes a long way. It leaves you skin with a dewy/glassy shine if you use too much. I don't mind it but with that use (a small pump on each cheek and one on the forehead) there was a bit of tackiness to the skin. I let it sit for a few minutes to absorb and it was still dewy and tacky. Luckily I still had a few other steps to my skincare to apply so it slightly mellowed out the tackiness overall. Skin still was dewy, less but still had a bit of glassy look. If a smaller amount is used it works out pretty perfectly. You get some dewy look but with no excess tacky. Regardless of amount, it does play well with my other skincare and I had no issues of pilling. With a smaller amount, I was able to not have my hair sticking to my face but managed a slight dewy look that was more natural and less shine. At $85 for 1 oz, at time of review, it is reasonable if you have a loyalty to the brand and the means to splurge. The product definitely hydrates...but I cannot say so much that it really plumped my skin to the point that I would use this in place of another hydration serum. If you care about no fragrance and cleaner ingredients, this could be worth the price for that alone.

First I want to say I have been using Sunday Riley products for the past 4 years and have found 2 HG’s that are now a staple in my skin care routine. This is brand I feel good about and trust. What I like about Tidal is that it’s a fantastic hydrator. When I first applied this serum I was struck by the scent which is very earthy. I believe it’s the “vegan mucin” giving that scent. I didn’t have a problem with the smell however I did notice it. After my first use I could feel that my skin was hydrated and I was left with a nice dewy finish. After using this serum for a couple weeks is a when I started to notice that my skin had more bounce to it. My “11’s” and two bothersome expression lines were finer. After 1 month of using this serum am/pm (I like to use it before I put on moisturiser) so second to last step, the lines I had mentioned were at their finest. I believe this to be the peptides doing their job. After 3 1/2 months of using Tidal I ran out. Which really bummed me out however this gave me the chance to see what my skin looked like without this serum. After three days the hydration in my skin was far less. When I woke up in the morning I had less bounce and that dewy glow was gone. In about two weeks I could see my “11’s” we’re getting more prominent again. After a month my expression lines were more visible. And that’s when I decided that this serum has been giving my skin such intense hydration that it was time for another bottle. I think this is an excellent product that not only hydrates but gives your skin more firmness and helps with expression lines the most. It’s more than a HA hydration serum. If you already like the effects of HA this product takes that to the next level that’s longer lasting. I do feel with all skincare the full results take time and that’s true with this product. However you will see improvement in the first use due to how hydrating this is. I understand why it’s called Tidal. This serum price wise is on par with other serums from this brand and this level of quality. I think it’s totally worth it when it’s so effective. In my opinion it’s an excellent serum that provides instant and long term results which is why I’m giving it a full 5 stars.
