Easy to read,lots of history
Easy to read, definitely teaches you history about steam heat radiators and piping. There is trouble shooting a little in the hammer/ clanging metal sound section. Haven't read whole book yet.Hoping there is more on maintanece for the homeowner who never had radiators before. I have lots more to read.

Definitive
I am a heating professional, and this book was essential to my education, and I still use it for troubleshooting. If you are likewise a professional, you already own this book. The simplest, most comprehensive explanation of steam heating systems, period. It’s written in a accessible and conversational style. He uses simple terms and visual examples to explain the physics of steam. Interesting stories about the early days of our industry and troubleshooting war stories are interspersed throughout . A simple, non-technical book every tech should read.If you own a steam system the information is in here, but never hire a contractor for it who hasn’t read this book

Invest in your mind. This has been said to be one of the best steam heating books on the market
I have watched Dan's video presentations that he done at public events and learned a lot, now I have the book to go even deeper. Steam heating is a old type of heating that has been overlooked until you go to repair a steam system and find that you should know more about it before you start adjusting things. I have been in HVACR for 26 years yet I haven't worked a lot of steam systems. This is the perfect book to help learn the things you didn't know you needed to know.

Interesting but digressive.
Little practical guidance for living with a 100 year-old steam heated home.

Awesome
A great book for the heating professional, architect, or anyone who has ever had to deal with steam heat. Great read, easy to understand, and a great addition to any personal reference library. I am an architect and have an old house with steam heat, and it has been a great help in understanding the complexities or rather simplicity of my system. It has given me the confidence to talk shop with HVAC contractors and not sound like an idiot. (They also have a lot more respect when you tell them you have this book...)I also highly recommend Dan's book for homeowners called "We Got Steam HEAT!". It is a great compliment to this book, and perhaps a better place for homeowners to start, as it is geared more toward the residential applications, and written in an easy, common sense format that just about anyone can appreciate.
