Digitally remastered two-fer containing a pair of Jazz/Funk albums from the New York-based pianist. Bernard Wright was only 16 when he recorded the 1981 album Nard. The album features the two heavily sampled tracks "Hoboglabotribin" and "Spinnin". Another highlight of the album is a version of Miles Davis' 'Solar'. The Funky Beat album allowed Bernard to explore many areas of black music including Jazz, Soul, Funk and Break Beats. There are two standout tracks on the album: Weldon Irvine's 'Mr. Clean' and the track 'Joy Spring'; both tracks produced by Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen. Cherry Red. 2011.

Good funky music!
Bernard Wright was one of the funkiest musicians EVER!!!! These two albums are magnificent!! Unfortunately he is no longer with us having passed away recently RIP to one of the greatest!!!!

Nard/Funky Beat
This is a nice grooving CD. I bought it to replace my cassette copy of Nard. Sounds just good now as it did when I first bought it back in the 80's. The Funky Beat tracks are also nice.The two albums on one CD is a grand idea particularly for theses tracks by Bernard Wright.

Hard Nard
When the album Nard came out in the early 80's every car riding down the street was blasting haboglabotribin! I had to have it i would play it @ parties and ppl would go crazy. Then i found out he was only sixteen when he made this album that really blew me away! Now they have not only Nard on cd but you get funky beat another nice cd two for one you can't beat that!

Great stuff. And to find them together, awesome. The Nard album having Marcus Miller is excellent, funky and jazzy….it's got it all. Funky Beat has a more mainstream style but the song writing is pretty good.

Yet another pearler from cherry red records. Great 2 albums for a great price . Would lv to see the 3rd album Mr Wright get a lovely remaster too as that is another lost treasure that has never seen the light of day on cd .

Rare groove, oh rare groove
great albums, that reflects the eclectic sounds, with great integration, and are rare groove classic, and has been sampled by the hip-hop greats over the years. Straight jazz, fusion, funk, electro, boogie and soul. Hence the money it has commanded in the past. BUT REMEMBER

Fantastic
The original Barnard Wright 'Nard' album full of killer tracks like Chillin' Out, Master Rocker, Haboglabotrobbin'. Fantastic. Worth it for the Nard album alone but the other album is a good bonus, though I only like one or two tracks off that.

Funkin' Funky !
Bernard Wright is one of the Funkiest cats I've ever heard. As soon as I put the album on I was body poppin' all over the shop, I couldn't help myself. Gold star for 'Nard

"Nard" una buena muestra del mejor funk de los 80
Una buena edición con los dos primeros discos de este olvidado artista. El primer disco "Nard", es un trabajo fantástico que mezcla el funk instrumental con gotas de jazz y soul. El disco suena increible, buena producción y buen trabajo de remasterización para la edición en CD. El segundo disco "Funky Beat" es más flojo, tiene algún buen tema pero tiene ese rollo break dance y ese punto electro-funk de mediados de los 80, que salvo excepciones, a mí se me hace muy pesado.
