Bana Two Birds and a Blossom Chinese Gaiwan (Traditional Chinese Teaware Comprised of a Cup, Saucer and Lid) and Pu-erh Tea Sample

what a beautiful tea cup ! the colors vibrant yet tasteful ; the detail excellent. fits well in the palm of the hand and made of such quality. first time I have seen a Gaiwan type tea cup; thought the lid was imperfect because it did not fit flush with the cup. The company contacted me immediately and offered to send me a new lid even though this is how the lid is suppose to fit. declined their offer of course and felt foolish . the lid is suppose to be a little off so that the tea can be sipped and not let the leaves out. the cup is beautiful; makes sipping tea a tranquil treat and this company is terrific and concerned that each customer is happy even unknowledgable ones like me :-).

It's a bit overpriced compared to what you could get from a Chinese supermarket or convenience store ($3-$6) but it has a much better craftsmanship/ finishing than a cheapo gaiwan, and it comes with samples of expensive Pu Erh teas (which by the way you could buy for much cheaper price in a Chinese supermarket, especially if you buy it loose leaf in a metal can.Filling it up to the recommended level (so you have less chance of burning your fingers when handling hot liquids), I measured that this gaiwan holds just about 100ml (3oz), which is typical for a gaiwan, when you realize that the purpose of a gaiwan is to brew gong fu/ kung fu style tea preparation, with several steeping rounds.

This is a nice grade of porcelain china. The artwork is nice and the colors are quiet and restful. The cup, lid and saucer were well wrapped in bubble plastic. Included in the box was a sample of raw pu-erh and an aged pu-erh tea. Pu-erh is very good for the digestive system and is best after a heavy meal to aid in digestion and the breakdown of fat and bad cholestrol. Green tea is good for this, too. This cup will go well with any tea. To me, it invites me to drink jasmine tea. I am very happy with this purchase.

beautiful traditional tea cups....enjoy your finest green teas in these delecate and well proportioned delicate form. Happy I ordered two. Just be sure rinse them seperate from regular dishes because they are fragile. If you put them in dishwasher you will risk damaging them. Will order two more in case I have company over.
