I've never liked vacuuming until now. :)
Great machine, only concern is how sensitive the cord rewind button is. If the hose gently touches it, the cord rips out of the outlet and quickly rewinds. If you have the cord in your hand and are ready for this action, it is no problem but when it happens unexpectedly it is a bit dangerous. That being said, I love this vacuum, it is simply the best I've ever used and the chore of vacuuming now seems effortless. When i'm done not only is my house nice and clean but the dust bunnies from the pets don't resurface a few hours later as this vacuum vents out the top, not onto the floor. So all those dust bunnies get sucked up, not blown up all over into the air.

More fun than a broom
This is a review of the Miele C3 Calima.Quick take... pricey but a good vacuum for a smaller apartment. The added maneuverability of the smaller brush heads makes it more user-friendly for vacuuming the whole apartment. More fun than sweeping.I typically purchase upright vacuums of the less expensive variety. Like sub $100 hoover types. My previous hoover was recommended by Consumer Reports, but I never liked it very much because vacuuming the medium pile wall-to-wall carpet in my son's bedroom was difficult with it. The height adjustment didn't go high enough to avoid the "sucked to the carpet" effect, which made it very hard to push while vacuuming. After many years of dealing with it I finally decided to upgrade.I live in a 1000 sq ft apartment with a mix of flooring, some hardwood, some wall-to-wall carpet, area rugs, and tile. I have 2 rooms with wall-to-wall carpet, one low pile and one medium pile. I debated between going for a model with an electronic brush head for several hundred dollars more, or this one, which has the vacuum powered (non-electric) turbo brush head. I'm happy I decided to go with the Calima. The turbo brush head works well on bare flooring, as does the hardwood floor attachment. The turbo brush does a good job on the low pile carpet, the area rugs, and actually pretty good on the medium pile too.I think the Turbo brush is a good solution a small apartment without a lot of medium pile or thicker carpeting. It's more maneuverable than the larger bulkier electronic brushes that come with the more expensive models.Overall I really like this thing. I find myself using it to clean all my floors, hardwood, carpet and area rugs, and the tile in the bathrooms. It's really easy to maneuver around with the smaller brush heads, and I can vacuum my whole place in less than 10 minutes. I never would have used my old upright vacuum to vacuum the non-carpeted rooms of the house, it was too clunky. I find myself reaching for this more often than the broom for the bare floors. The automatic cord retractor and the accessory compartment are great. And I dig that it has hepa filtering, to help with my allergies.Of course the elephant in the room when talking about a vacuum like this is the price. At over 900 dollars after tax it's waaay more expensive than many of the other options, even other vacuums that have more fancy features than this one. But the way I see it it's an investment. Hopefully this is the last vacuum cleaner I ever have to buy.

Nice upgrade from my ancient Miele Marin
I had a Miele Marin for years and years that worked perfectly and still sucked like a champ, but it needed some new "parts and pieces", and was looking a little worn. I figured to just go with a new one, it was time. I've tried and tossed out just about every brand of vacuum out there over the years, and now I don't even consider any brand other than Miele. This Guard excels in just about every way. Great suction and nice and quiet. I love the stability of the 4 wheels and it is lighter and easier to maneuver while also not feeling like a toy. The dusting brush integrated into the handle is a game changer, it just pulls out of the handle and no more digging around the trunk. The new "all floor" brush it comes with is great too. The foot controls are very easy to use. This Guard was so good, I decided to also upgrade my C3 Brilliant. I need a power head for our wool rugs (I am not a fan of the air driven ones) and I also bought a Guard 1 (the blue one).To be honest, I like this Guard 1 Allfloor better than the Guard 1 (which costs hundreds more) because it actually feels like a totally new design with lots of upgrades and still has Mieleโs very powerful suction.

This is a great vacuum cleaner
Wow. This is a great vacuum cleaner. Powerful suction ... cleans really well. My only criticism is that the powerhead for use on carpets is big and heavy. With everything else being so wonderful, couldn't this company have come up with something a little lighter and smaller? But aside of this one problem..... you can't beat this vacuum. It's body is lightweight and easy to carry around. Love the way the attachments are stored in the body of the vacuum. The retractable power cord is wonderful. I bought this at the same time I bought a Dupray steam cleaner, and ---between the two of them---there's no cleaning job I can't handle now!
