The de facto standard
This is my second pair (need studio set and one to take around with me) , have tried others and these do the job best. They are reasonably comfortable, a bit tight at first (for me) but do loosen up. The sound reduction is pretty good and audio quality seems fine for the purpose. Perhaps not up to studio engineer level, but good for monitoring as a drummer/guitarist, live mixing etc.Not being Bluetooth enabled , they are lighter and no worry about having to charge them! If you do need to go cordless, then a Bluetooth or similar belt pack does the job. They are reasonably robust, one set has been carried around in kit bag for the last two years and used in studio and festival stages, find them easier than 'in ear' protectors as easily removed and can be use on the desk as well.Perhaps the only two criticism are1. Length of cord could be longer (but an extension cord works)2. The 1/4" jack converter should have been the professional 'screw on' type as used on most other professional headsets.Would I buy again - Yes.

Essential for E-Drums
These deserve a review.I have an Alesis Surge SE...a recent purchase (love it) and I started out last week using a £129 pair of headphones..specifically for listening to music via HiFi or my phone using Spotify. For that I love them.I decided to try a set of headphones specifically for E-drums. To say these headphones improved the sound is an understatement...even the sound of the inbuilt drum sounds are amazing. Clarity, the subtleties and the 'space' around the drum is fantastic and the samples do sound more realistic. If you use BFD or EZ Drummer the sound is another level. They are robust. The cable and where it joins the headset is quality. The noise cancelling is superb and they look great. As I said these are setup for drums and not really for listening to music. They are tight on the head at first. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were twice the price.

Ideal for drums
My son plays drums (acoustic, not electric) and I wanted to get him new headphones.First of all, I was aware that drumming can damage hearing so wanted to protect his ears.He normally wore headphones when drumming - however he wore them so he could listen to music to play along to. (If he didn't listen music through headphones, he had to have speakers up soon loud to hear music over the drums!).However, even with headphones on, he still needed the music through them up too loud to hear it over the drums. He did try Bluetooth earplugs underneath ear-defenders for a while, however he found a slight lag in the Bluetooth affected his recording.Anyhow, these headphones are perfect. They are good quality construction. They fit comfortably on his head and he says they are really good as ear-defenders. They really do a good job at keeping the loudness of drums from damaging his ears, while at the same time are a good set of earphones to hear his music. To be clear, these are wired headphones (good length of lead) to listen to music, while having excellent noise isolation so he can hear the music in his ears, even when drumming loudly.Win-win!

work well for personal monitors in a noisy environment
I struggle to cope with the sound volume when rehearsing with a rock band and I have been searching for a solution for a long time. These work well - they are essentially good quality ear defenders with built in headphones. I drive them from a wireless audio receiver intended for in ear monitors and I get much better sound isolation using these than the IEMs, although the quality of the sound is OK rather than great. I have many other pairs of headphones that sound better, but these offer the best isolation I have found so far. I find the comfort to be fine - I can wear them for hours with no problems. They are fairly tight but that's what you need I guess. Note they aren't noise cancelling - they are ear defenders of the 'dumb' type - just big blocks of foam that fit over your ears to protect them from loud noises, but with the benefit of built in headphone drivers. Overall a good solution for what I wanted.

The best and most important purchase for Drummers !
Every drummer needs these ! They are the best don’t waste time on others.Allows you to protect your ears from harsh drum sounds in small rooms.Allows you to get a nice and safe mix of audio in your ears.My kit sounds so much better I’m my small studio where before it was simply too loud and harmful. Now I mic the kit and able to control the volume through the mixer out to the headphones.I bought another pair for my son as we play two kits together and wanted him to benefit form the great mix I had. Also like any Dad I wanted to protect his little ears.I strongly believe that these headphones will save money because it improves the acoustic sound of cymbals and drums while allowing you to plug the iPhone or whatever in to play along with. They could only be improved by having a detachable cable so you could just use them as ear defenders if you wanted to without the lead dangling down.I have tinnitus so I know how important this issue is, I with I had these years ago to look after my ears as they would have allowed me to play Drums safely.Get these now :)

Outstanding for recording vocals or for drummers
If you’re looking for mixing headphones these probably aren’t what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for headphones that don’t leak out sound when you’re in a vocal recording booth, or recording drums, you won’t get much better. I had bought a number of top brand headphones which, while great for sound quality, leaked too much when trying to record anything with a condenser mic. They also keep the sound in and stop external sound getting through. These have been a great buy and cheap for what are very very sturdy headphones. Well worth the money.

Functional, with a few issues.
I use these to listen to the music as I record vocals over the top. While this isn't their intended use, at the time (5+ years ago) I chose them because they would block some of the noise effectively so it wouldn't get on the vocal recording as much as the headphones I was using at the time, and because it was the cheapest solution to this problem. The headphones are really functional for this purpose, so my rating may be a little harsh, but I did deduct some stars because these headphones have a wire that flaps out and hits the hardback of the headphones which makes a noise which gets on the vocal recordings. At the moment I use Izotope to remove this cracking/clicking noise but it's just a bit of a design flaw in my opinion as they could have embedded the wire into the headband a bit more so it doesn't flap, or there could be some way to tuck the wire up so that this noise doesn't happen. If you are using these for recording I would really advise being mindful of whether the wire is flapping against the hard back of the headphone. The second reason I deducted stars was for the comfort/fit. My head is very small, so it's possible some of these issues would be less profound on someone with a normal sized head lol. But the comfort of these headphones is poor, I can only take so much using them without taking a break. Having said that they are good headphones and do the job well, just wanted to share my experience. It's also worth noting that these were purchased in 2022 and it's now 2026 and they are still working perfectly, despite me being an owner that sometimes gets too enthusiastic with dettol wipes (OCD) lol.

Excellent for electronic drums practice
Excellent for electronic drums practice. Sound quality is very good and isolation is very good. They are quite tight though.

Good sound, good isiolation (27db).
Can't even hear my own mechanical keyboard when typing this!High clamping force? Maybe. I feel that the clamp is snug and secure and would work well headbanging. For reference, I have a big head at 61cm circumference, and I feel that they fit well.Quality feels very solid, no creaks, cable sounds or questionable material choices. However, the headphones are a perfect match for my purposes of mixing, gaming, studying in a noisy environment.

Does the job very well
The only reason I bought these headphones was the sound isolation. And the job is done. I used to use Marshall Monitor Bt headphones for playing my Roland electronic drums. Marshall pair is amazing but you can still hear the hittimg sound on the cymbals. With Vic Firth pair the problem is solved, no sound but the cymbals' digital sound. As expecting the sound quality is not that good for listening to music but for playing along they are perfect.
