My computer is old (obviously, if I'm buying this keyboard). I received a call verifying that this is actually what I want. I was so impressed. Took only a couple of minutes to remove the old and install the new. I did look up video on youtube before I began, but once you get the old keyboard off, it all makes perfect sense without the videos.

Used to repair a missing key on my Aspire 5742. The ribbon cable for the keyboard itself took some coercing to fit in the shell, the ribbon looks slightly longer than the original between the final bend and the motherboard pinout. It functionally causes no problems. The key surface appears to have a slight bow to it looking at it from the side though.The keys feel slightly spongier when depressed than the original, but it actually has all of the keys, so I can't complain too much. The fn. button text throughout the keyboard face is a much nicer dark blue as compared to the nasty periwinkle sort-of color on the OEM part. It matches the LED's on the front cover. In a weird way, it makes the laptop feel a bit newer.

Youtube videos show general how to, but no good close-ups on mounting lugs or ribbon plug in. Lugs need to be pushed back from board, not pried up. Ribbon clamp hard to see, but has 2 tabs to push back before you pull out ribbon and don't lose the clear green film piece that goes on top of the ribbon for a tight fit. When pushing into slot. film and ribbon must be fully pushed in before re-engaging the two lock tabs.

Very nice keyboard for the price. I hooked this up with my laptop to make it a more portable set up.

Bought this with some trepidation to replae the keyboard on my Acer laptop. Aftermarket keyboards can be a real crapshoot. Ordered and received very quickly.

fit as intended , was second replacement , other/ different vendor did not measure up / worked only short period .. close price range ... time will tell ..
