The absolute worst experience with a product I have ever been involved In.
I hate to do reviews. Because I’m not that guy. BUT. I cannot sit by and not write this. I bought this door in august 2019. It worked good for a month. Then started acting up. The door would go up and down. Constantly. So I went to the adjustments. After about an hr of frustration (adjusting in tiny tiny adjustments every time) I turned power off to the unit. About a day later I turned power back on. And did not touch the adjustments. The door seemed to be working as it should. Couple days later in the middle of the night I heard it. Up and down up and down. The door is in the garage and the dogs are in the house. So it wasn’t them. So I shut power off. The next day I called the company. The owner answered. It was a mistake. This man is by far the most pretentious human I have ever spoke to. Talking down on me telling me “our doors never have this problem.” That it was operator error. At this point I though yes very well might be. I went home. And another hr of adjusting and adjusting. The next day. I called him back. Again bad idea. He yet again talked down to me and acted like I was a child who had no idea about anything. (I am a mechanic and also work in home construction so I do have some sort of an idea.) after failed attempts in correcting the issue myself and also contacting him. I ordered a new electronic box. It took 6 weeks to come in. I wired it exactly to his wiring diagram he sent. Turned it in and it wouldn’t recognize the magnet that was supplied. (Yes that’s what his door opening collar attachments are.. just magnets. I called home and YET AGAIN that was a mistake. He hung up on me twice. Acting like it was a bad connection. I will NEVER call him back. EVER. so I took the two electronic boxes apart side by side. And realized the new one he sent didn’t have the part in it that recognizes the magnets. So I switched it into the new box and installed it in the door. Fingers crossed turned power on. I STILL have a door (that I paid 650 dollars for and now a electronic box that was 100) that works irregularly. Doesn’t matter how you adjust it. One way or the other I cannot dial it in to either, work on the inside and outside, or not go up and down all the time on its own. do not. I repeat DO NOT buy this product from this man. Because if you have problems. Which I’m sure you will. You will call him and get treated like YOU are the problem not his faulty janky parts he uses on his door. This is a very unfortunate experience that I wish I could send back and get all my money back. But! There is absolutely no warrantee in the product. That’s right. None. No parts no nothing. Don’t buy it.

This door is the best!!
This product is amazing! I originally purchased the High tech pet door, which I do not recommend it had nothing but problems. The solo door operates with a magnetic collar which takes the worry out of it failing. I ordered 5 collars which all fails from hightech pet. This was a big concern as I live in the northeast US and it gets very cold. If the collar failed during the extreme cold my dogs could have froze to death. Solo is a bitMore expensive but 100% worth it! Dogs have been going in and out with out any issues. Just make sure you follow the directions for setting it up and once your dog gets used to it change to the recommended setting and the door should last a long time.

Works as advertised
Works awesome! Lets the dog out and keeps the cats inside! Update: After a few months, during Winter, it stopped working. What I found was an IC on the circuit board with pins not soldered. The pins made contact with the circuit board until it got cold and the board warped slightly. I resoldered the IC and removed the board from the plastic box. Remounted the board using standoffs for easier access if the board craps out again. Aside from that it has worked flawlessly!

NOT SAFE!!! Beware
Just about anything can open this door. Wave your cellphone or ear buds in front of it! Wave anything with a rechargeable battery in front of it and it opens. This is very unsafe.

Works as advertised but here are 5 problems with the magnet operation.
The problems with this item are as follows1) Wearing a collar is not recommended for an outdoors cat.2) Cat collars are quick release, so an outdoor cat will lose it.3) A magnet on a dog collar will have unintended consequences (please see attached image)4) If that magnet gets too close to your phone or laptop, kiss it goodbye.5) ANY magnet will open this door, which makes your house very easy to break into. Please someone make a secure microchip version of this! (otherwise, it does work as advertised - hence 3 stars!)

Good (if it works)/Very poor customer service
We have had issues with the door since day one and when we tried to speak with Solo Pet doors we were accused of: The dogs are using the door like a toy (this was a new construction home so the dogs had not used it as of that phone call), someone trying to break in through the door which is why it wasn't closing (we have cameras around the house, and this was not the case), and then back to not training the dogs how to use it properly (we again reminded their "customer service" the dogs had not used it yet). The guy we were speaking with actually had the gumption to say "our (Solo Pet Doors) products do not have problems so you must have done something wrong". This is a direct quote.Things that are worth knowing.1. Cell phones can set off the opening mechanism2. A strong enough battery can set off the opening mechanism3. In fact, any item with a magnet can set off the mechanism from inside or outside. The company will tell you to reduce the sensitivity, but then it won't open when the dogs are close, so again it's your fault not theirs.4. We have to spray the mechanism with Teflon spray about every week otherwise the door will not fully close5. Can't put the cover on the mechanism as that will often cause the door to stick or can actually trigger the door to openGood concept, poor execution. I would never buy this product again. I would never recommend it to any person and if someone mentions they are buying it, I will talk them out of it if possible.

Crook
We purchased a door for over $1000. It worked for 18 months and a small spring broke. It's probably a 50 cent spring and he wanted to sell me a $160 rebuild kit with the motor and all parts. He claimed we had talked before (not the case, the spring broke the day before) and got irritated and hung up. He will not respond to e-mails or calls. I can't pay $160 everytime a part breaks. We will need to switch brands and start with a new door. A real disappointment and very expensive mistake.
