Velleman Atlas ESR70 Capacitance and ESR Meter

This little meter kicks ass! Ease of use and accuracy. Well worth it!

Works as described. I used it to repair a home air purifier that stopped working. I tested the capacitors while still on the circuit board, which experts will tell you doesn't work, but it allowed me to identify the faulty one.I replaced it and the purifier works again.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this unit is far superior to the Chinese made unit for around $60. Just moving the capacitor with the leads attached made the ESR change tenfold. That meter did not give me the same reading when I checked the same capacitor several times in a row. It also did not hold zero each time. This meter, on the other hand, was made in England and is very consistent giving the same ESR every time and the capacitance on a 1300 uf capacitor just one or two uf difference at the most.

Item was received in good working order. Exactly as described by seller. No problems.

Works as advertised, but I wish it had couple more things that would make it perfect.1. A flip-up flap on the back to be able to put it upright. I know it’s not that simple because the leads are coming out from the bottom. But I had to 3D print my own stand for it. Magnet would be a good idea so it can be attached to a metal surface.2. A good/bad indicator of some sort. An LED maybe. The leads are long and notEveryone has eye sight to read at a distance. Especially when wearing a magnifying glasses or using a microscope and need glasses to read from from arm length.3. Wire management or make leads removable.4. Second set of tips for SMD testing.

works very well runs tests very quickly and as far ai can tell ,would buy again if needed

Results check out comparing new to old caps. I have yet to do technical/scientific testing against a scope and a calculator but generally I'm confident in the readouts.
