I open the capsule (which is very easy) and pour the contents right onto the middle of the wet food pile, then cover over with a small amount of the food. I then (and I do this for the young male who doesn't get the Cosequin) pour a little boxed broth (beef or chicken) into the empty cat food can and swish/rinse it then pour that over the food. The female has always eaten the food Cosequin and all. **Q: Can this safely be used with begining stage kidney issues?** A: I called the company (888-886-6442) because my 16 yr. old cat also has kidney issues and I was told by them that it is fine to given them the Cosequin.
