Lost Treasure of the Emerald Eye (Geronimo Stilton): 1 Paperback – Illustrated, 1 Feb. 2004

These books are really wonderful. They are interesting to read, funny and sarcastic at times. My daughter is 7 and an advanced reader. We now have about 20 of these books and they are superb, the range of adventures geronimo and his team have had and the different places and things they have done are incredible. She will happily read chapter books but these are so fun and enjoyable that she always returns to them for pure enjoyment and delight. If you want to find out about things that are 'fabu-mouse' or occasional 'CAT-astrophes' this is the book for your kids. My daughter started reading them when she was 6 and I can imagine they will keep her busy for another year or so (I now buy most of them secondhand from amazon.com as they are really popular in the states and so more are available cheaply- this becomes important when you start to buy them in the quantities we now need! I have just ordered 15 more!). It might be that the first few will not grab their attention, but after a while as they get to know the characters it will feel very different. We are now reading the Kingdom of fantasy series and the cavemice ones and along with Thea Stilton, there is plenty to keep most kids interested. To get a taste, try and look inside the first few pages of the books to fully appreciate how they are written.

This didn't grip my 8 year old at all. Perhaps the hapless hero hindered his engagement, or it could have been the pushy inconsiderate sister, or the selfish dangerous cousin who annoyed him? Not sure, but I can't recommend this series based on our experience, although I have heard they are very popular so maybe your kids will like this series more than mine.

I bought this for a friend for a Christmas present as she's getting into writing children's books. She told me it was a great present and she enjoyed it, and she's an adult. I can only imagine how much kids must also love it.

What a lovely book, it's colourful and well illustrated, without being to basic and easy to read. My little girl who is 8 but very advanced in reading loved this book, and so proceeded to buy the next in the series.

The full-colour artwork in the brilliantly entertaining Geronimo Stilton series makes these books the perfect next step for children who love picture books but want longer and more demanding stories. When my daughter was 5 and 6 she found black-and-white books off-putting although she was a confident reader for her age. Understandably, she still wanted the fun of full-colour pictures. She loved the Geronimo Stilton books, and her older brother lapped them up at the same time too.

My 6 year old son loves the Geronimo books - he tells me they are the funniest books he has ever read! The coloured artwork really helps to keep him interested and means he'll happily sit and read them by himself as well. I would definitely recommend this book for both competent and reluctant readers of this age.

Not as interesting as most of the others received and the condition wasn't as good as the others either. This is one of the earliest books if not the first, so I think the author has got better as he has written more books.

I am beyond amazed by these books. My son absolutely loves them and gets such a thrill and a kick out of them. If I try to pull him away from them for dinner, he just does not want to stop reading. I love that he reads and I'm totally on board with him reading all of these books. Highly recommend if you're looking for an adventurous book for your kiddo.
