does what it is supposed to do see below
Ok let me explain what its supposed to do and how to do it because many people dont. This is a throttle lock not cruise control like on a car. Dont test it while the bike is on idling because it wont work. test only with the bike off or while your on the highway (thats what it is made for)To install you will need to move the brake lever a little by unscrewing the clamp screws. if that is enough you are golden to get the throtle clamp in between the brake clamp and the swtich housing. if not then other steps need to be taken. If you need to move the switch housing there are 2 screws (03 gsxr 600) on the bottom. unscrew them lift the top of the switch housing (red cutoff switch part) and move it away from the bike a little to get more room. NOTE: you will not be able to screw it back in all the way, there is a drilled hole in the handle bar that the top part goes into. if you cut off the piece of plastic on the switch housing then it will be flush if not just get it as close as possible without overtighting and breaking it.Once you have enough room put the 2 piece clamp around the handle bar and lightly tighten the 2 screws with the bigger of the 2 allen keys. do not tighten it just yet.Unscrew the larger screw with a lug nut or wrench and place the bar that runs across to the actual throttle and screw it back in. you can tighten this all the way.Place the ring around the throttle as close as you can get it to the switch housing (it will be loose for now)Place the thumb switch in between the 2 metal rings and insert the bolt through. (longer bolt if you are far from the cross bar shorter if it is very close) (if you are loosing the long bolt place the plastic washer between the cross bar and the thumb switch)Tighten the bolt but and then unscrew it 1/2 turn so it is not to tight, this will alow the switch to work smoothly without forcing it.Adjust the placement of the clamp and ring so the thumb switch is in optimal position for you and tighten the clamp bolts all the way.Place the rubber piece between the ring and the handle bar that will get it the most flush either thicker or thinner.Tighten the screws with the small allen key around the ring to press down on the rubber piece to have it grip the barCheck to make sure the throttle works moothly returning back to off and not snagging (you dont want to hit the brakes but still getting power to the wheels and get into an accident)You can also adjust the tightness of the ring with the bolt on top of the thumb switch adjust slowly and check to make sure the throttle grips with the thumb in the on position but has a smooth return of the throttle to off when not engaged. To test if the lock holds with the bike off twist the throttle half way and lock it, see if it moves if yes tighten the bolt a little, always checking that its not to tight and the throttle works smoothly when the lock is not engagedI have tested this I have also tested the bike in 3rd gear going 45mph and there is not trouble with it. It will not work at low speeds as the throttle is not twisted enough away from off. Test at highways speeds is best.

good product
originally had looked for the exact cruise control unit that was installed on a previous v45 sabre i owned 10 years ago. found this unit online and installed it on my VFR800. unit works flawlesly with a aftermarket set of hand grips i installed that have a aluminum red colored sleeve collar over gel grips right were the cruise control mates up with the handguards. much more stable and reliable cruise control with aftermarket grips then gel grips had on when first installed cruise control. regardless which hand grips i used the cruise control did its function but will admitt the soft gel grips first installed on allowed bike to vibrate throttle slowly loose loosing speed eventually requiring slight adjustments as driving. the latest grips with aluminum sleeve and butt caps worked best with unit giving precise lockdown on cruise speeds even just chugging very slow speeds were the first grips didnt work as good at low rpm's. im able to lockdown any given rpm and not loose any speed regardless of what distance im traveling. recently used on 178 mile drive and never lost speed down the road as previously mentioned on soft grips install. made only 1 slight modification on install putting spring in between clamps 2 quicken disengagement and locktite the barrel nut in place after final fine tuning adjustments made before locktite hardened. still able to manually slow throttle with minimum hand pressure in case of forgetting unit is engaged and have more then enough pressure to hold any given rpm locked down at. i would definitely install these on another bike if needed. only beef i have with unit is the rod that attaches to the clamp. small price to pay considering it is after all a universal product designed to fit many applications.

Throttle clamp, not CC
First, let’s be clear. This is a throttle clamp, not a cruise control system like in a car and will slow considerably when starting up a hill. I’ve fiddled and futzed around with it for a week-long road trip of over a thousand miles and can’t adjust it to a place where it holds a constant speed in flat level ground for more than a mile or three without hindering throttle response. Put another way, if it’s tight enough to maintain speed, it won’t readily return to idle when released. That’s a bit of a safety issue. On the other hand, I can easily engage/disengage with my right thumb and tend to use it for RH rest breaks or when I need to adjust something at speed with my right hand. For this purpose it is great.Someday I might spend three times the price for a device that pins the throttle perfectly with no slip or lag. Until then, I’m fine the way things are.One more thing: Amazon’s Garage says it doesn’t fit my 2007 Ninja 650r, but it does. Had to slide the brake lever assembly a significant distance away from the throttle, but not far enough to make braking noticeably different.

Great Throttle Lock but Touchy
Great product and easy to install. It takes a little getting used to figuring out how to set throttle at the right position to cruise and not keep speeding up or slowing down. Also setting the right grip on your throttle can be touchy so that it's able to move freely but lock in place when in use. That just takes a little bit of playing with to get though. Overall a great cheap cruise control
