The Basket Lady Tall Wicker Trash Basket with Metal Liner, 15.5 in Dia x 25.5 in H, Antique Walnut Brown

I wanted an attractive trash can for our newly renovated kitchen. I love wicker but was nervous because kitchen cans are subjected to heavy and dirty use and I worried about how to keep this clean, especially because the lid has to be lifted off by hand.... but, with a few precautions this can is working out perfectly. The inside has a metal can so we double lined that to ensure the can itself stays clean. The outer bag we stretch to the outside of the wicker rim so nothing falls between the wicker and metal. The other concern was having to lift the lid with sometimes dirty hands from chopping meats, etc... so we put a nice decorative hook on the wall next to can. When we are in the kitchen cooking we simply hang the lid on the hook and leave the can open. So far, so good and I love having a pretty wicker can in the kitchen. Wicker is tight and thick and sturdy and I love everything about it. Well worth the price.

I will start by saying that I CANNOT believe that I paid so much for a trash basket – never in a million years did I ever think I would pay $146 for something I throw trash in! That being said, I did pay it because it’s impossible to find a trash basket that’s both attractive and functional. I'm not sure why it’s something that’s so hard to find - but it is. The best feature about this basket is the inside metal liner and not just because it functions as a liner but it’s designed so that a bag fits in it without showing outside the basket. All you see from the outside is basket – no unsightly plastic bag showing over the edge of the basket. It’s a great design! I also love the size and color of this basket.The one complaint I do have (and I saw this in another review) is that the handle was not properly attached and promptly came off completely on one side and is loose on the other. The handle is tied onto the lid with narrow strips of leather. When these are tied on in the factory I imagine that the strips are quite a bit longer than the finished product, making them easy to tie. They obviously trim these after being attached and because they are so short now, it makes them impossible to re-tie into a knot. The leather is too short and too stiff to manipulate. I managed to pull the leather through just enough and was able to tie very loose knots. So the handle looks OK from the outside, but it's not sturdy enough so that I can actually use it. I just lift the lid from the edge. I emailed The Basket Lady customer service (they do not take phone calls) to see if they could send me some longer replacement strips. The person I spoke to confirmed that the pieces are indeed much longer when applied at the factory and then she told me that I should try to glue the knots on the ones I presently have. As I explained to her, the knots are loose and too short to tighten, so adding glue to them is of no use – this would not tighten the handle. I shouldn’t have to do this anyway, after paying $146! It just didn't seem like an appropriate response to me. She seemed mystified that I would even ask for replacement pieces, and stated that the factory is in Indonesia thus she had no access to any of the leather at her location. Obviously their distribution center is in the US because the basket was mailed to me from Pennsylvania, so I would think they would have replacement parts at hand. Finally she said she would try and see if she had anything “lying around” to send me but couldn’t guarantee the leather would be the right color. She ended up sending me two pieces of leather that are definitely too short for the task. For the price paid, you would think they could offer something better – even offer to just replace the lid. I thought about exchanging the entire basket for a new one, but decided it was too much bother to pack it up and ship back. I will probably end up purchasing my own leather stripping (found some on Amazon) and fixing it myself. But again, a customer shouldn’t have to do this after the price paid – the manufacturer should back up their merchandise, not advise their customers to bring out the glue gun and get crafty!

Really love this much more than the old plastic trashcan I had in my kitchen. This has a nice rustic yet refined look. Well made and attractive

This basket is gorgeous! Bought it for my daughter but I want to keep it !

Searched (and searched and searched) for a replacement basket for trash and came up empty. Not sturdy, bad reviews, cheap material, shedding, were just some of the reasons that kept me from buying the less expensive versions. Sizing was also important and although some were perfect looking they were too wide to accommodate a standard tall kitchen trash bag. Then the sky opened and this lovely basket fell into my shopping cart. Perfect, just like Baby Bears bed, chair and porridge in the Goldilocks tale (I hope you all have read or heard that one). It is dark and yes, I would have liked the lighter color better, but I didn't want to hang on to my old receptacle for one more day since for some strange reason (and all of a sudden) it started to smell like a dead body had been in it. I sprayed, I scrubbed I aired and I did everything short of having it fumigated. Nope. Nothing worked. So, now I have the perfect basket, it looks great and it will last a life time with that metal insert which will keep the smells inside, not on the basket ever. Don't hesitate to get this. Color true to picture.

Really doesn’t look like a garbage bin…I have a very small kitchen & it sits in the corner of dining area right next to kitchen. Very happy with this purchase!

We ordered two for our new remodeled home when we forgot to install a waste bin in our kitchen cabinet design-lol. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of this purchase! They look gorgeous, function as promised and have held up extremely well for the last two years. I am actually happy that we made the silly mistake in our kitchen! They actually enhance the look of my home. This won't be my last purchase from this seller, as this is well worth the money!

My family and I love this garbage basket! We have an all white kitchen and do not have any way to hide a garbage can - so we knew we would have to get a garbage basket that was good looking but also large. We decorate with natural elements like plants + baskets, and oh my goodness this basket goes beautifully! Thank you Basket Lady :)
