Ilford 1574577 HP5 Plus, Black and White Print Film, 35 mm, ISO 400, 36 Exposures (Pack of 3)

This was the film I used throughout my first black-and-white film 🎞️ photography class, and it made me fall in love with analog photography. As someone who was completely new to shooting film, I found it very beginner-friendly and easy to work with. I used it with my Nikon N90s, and every roll loaded, advanced, and developed without any issues. The grain looks beautiful without being overwhelming, and I loved the contrast and detail I was able to get in my prints. Every roll has been reliable from start to finish, and considering this pack comes with three rolls, I think it's a great value for anyone getting into film photography or looking for a dependable black-and-white film :)

What is there to say about Ilford film other than it's THE standard for black and white? The 400 speed version provides a good sensitivity/definition/contrast balance for handheld shooting in bright, overcast, shadowed, and even indoor shots of most moving subjects, and obviously adequate for any static subject with a tripod. Film prices are high, but Ilford still comes in at a good value relative to the ever-diminishing options out there.

Ilford is a good brand to use, when it comes to developing film but I would say to purchase it only after you have learned how to use a camera, how to shoot with the camera (knowing what aperture and f-stop to use) and of course how to develop the film. It’s more expensive compared to other brands like kentmere. If you are a beginner, I highly recommend you start off with kentmere. I didn’t have a problem when i ordered them, they came in good condition but I will say that going in person to K&M store does give you a student discount.

Never have had any trouble with film on Amazon! Definitely limited to more mainstream stocks, but unless you’re like me hunting for like 50L Hollywood film this is a great buy for any trip or shoot! *I’ve gone to multiple countries and no carry on x-Ray has damaged it at all!*

I was a bit cautious when buying film off of amazon. So I only bought two in case there was a major issue, so I wouldn't waste too much money. But I was pleasantly surprised that this film worked out GREAT! I developed it myself in my schools dark room and there was no issue at all. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because when it came one of the boxes was open as if it may have been squished during transportation. But that's why we put film in containers! That didn't cause any problems. Although I see the price has gone up on here since I ordered I highly recommend this film!

It’s my baseline for black and white film, I highly recommend it to people starting out with film because it’s so forgiving and easy to develop.

Great film for my canon AE

My pictures came out very lovely. The texture and depth delivered was amazing. There is a whole range of detail that can be assessed even in the dark areas of the shot. Don't underexpose it too much and you'll get superb shots.

Worth the money buying all 3 together. Love the black and white texture
