Glass half full, or half empty? IMy choice!
I was introduced to this fine short book at a business seminar. I read it only because I respected the opinions of the people conducting the sessions I was attending. Recently re-read it and bought copies for my employees to read. We used it as the primary topic of discussion at a recent office meeting and have been talking about it ever since! What a great thing for our office culture to be able to recognize pessimistic thinking when it arises. The book is too short for anyone to kick about having time to read it, and too good for anyone to have anything but positive comments about. The best part for me was being able to identify the "realist" as a pessimist in disguise.

Short, Sweet, to the Point
Anyone familiar with "Learned Optimism" from Martin Seligman will find nothing new in this book. What makes it worth reading is the author has done a great job of distilling the essence of Seligman's research and putting it into short, straight-forward chapters. Combined with this condensed approach, the shifting fonts, layouts and pictures keeps the eye engaged and turning pages. After reading it, I bought it for my young adult son to read. I hope he takes it to heart.

Highly motivating
Price Pritchett does an excellent job in describing how to be an optimist in a realistic way. He presents ideas in new ways. It is motivating and helped me develop new, good habits. It's and easy read and small enough that you can take it with you, anywhere. Highly recommended.

Did not learn that much
The last part of the book is more interesting but I did not learn that much. There are way too much repetition. The author quotes a lot from other people but does not explain the "why" and it looks like we just have to believe him because someone else very famous claims that... I don't really like this approach for convincing the reader.
