Uncomfortable insoles
I ordered a size 11 which is what I wear and it fit properly my problem with the shoe is the insoles or insert is very uncomfortable and hard almost unusable the second issue with the shoe is the tongue of the shoe the material that holds it is so long that it pokes into the top of your foot if you over tighten the laces it is very noticeable, they’re squeaky shoes when you wear them on concrete or a painted surface. I’m a little disappointed as I was very excited about the shoes and the reviews were really high I was gonna take them on a trip but I don’t think I’m going to now, I walked around my five Acre yard and my feet were hurting by the time I got back to the house maybe they need to be broken in or because the insoles were so uncomfortable. Not sure about the waterproofing yet. They’re not super heavy like boots but they’re not light either. I’ll try them for a few days and maybe update the review. Update I wore them today to work With the insoles out of my boots which are in pretty decent shape still and broke in for my foot. my feet are comfortable at the end of the day with no complaints so I’m going to up my review from a 2 to a 4, I would give a 5 if the insoles were more comfortable

Really nice shoes!
Finally found a Merrell shoe I like! Their designs and colors have always been a put off to me. But this pair in the dark gray, I really like a lot. I wear these all the time and they have good arch support and comfortable to walk around in. Plus they are waterproof and perfect to wear during winter in Chicago. I also bought a different color boot by Merrell which I don’t find as comfortable as this shoe! But that’s another review. Also Amazons price for these was great compared to buying in a store. So that made it even better.

My favorite shoe
I've been wearing Merrill Moab low cut hikers s for long enough to be on my third pair. For me, these are both a casual shoe and a sturdy pair of hikers on trails where I don't expect to encounter creek crossings or mud. These are now designated Moab 2,while there are Moab 3s listed in some places as well. This may suggest the Moab 2 version is closing out. In any case, they are the old familiar ones to me and now seem to be available as bargains relative to past prices. REI has sold them for $135 but now seems to only have a few marked down sizes left in stock, so this shoe has become a deal when you can find them. The shipper was prompt and the tracking worked as usual, i.e, very good. Even though they travelled from Kentucky to Washington State during the holiday season, it only took a few days.

Not too hot for summer!
I'm a size 8-8.5 in women's but I got these in black in size 7 (which is equivalent to 8.5 women's) b/c I usually like to go up half a size in Merrell's hiking shoes (as opposed to their trail running shoes). These fit exactly the same as an 8.5 in women's. I read more than a few reviews that claimed these shoes run small and instructed people to go up at least half a size, but I would only do that if you're on the edge of your size (i tend to be in certain styles of Merrell's shoes), have wide feet, or plan to use inserts.I was worried these would be too hot for summer but they're fine! We've had a bad heatwave the past 2 weeks and I don't find them particularly hot. I'm really glad I didn't get the "vent" version because I hike every day with my dog and am really hard on my hiking shoes (I usually need a new pair every 3-6 months, no matter the brand). I've owned a lot of different Merrell hiking shoes at this point (i usually just buy what's on sale) so I know I'd tear up the "vent" fabric pretty quick on the vent version of these shoes. These shoes are heavy hiking shoes. They're still "sneakers" instead of boots, but they're probably the heaviest pair of hiking shoes I've ever owned (i never wear actual hiking boots). I was surprised by how bouncy they still feel though! I guess that's one of the reasons they're so comfortable; i've had hard hiking shoes and these definitely aren't hard! You could run in them, but if you're a runner Merrell's actually makes a lot of different trail running shoes that would be better for that.I've been hiking in them for the past month and my only complaint so far is the suede fabric: it's such a magnet for dirt and dust! I got them in the black/gray but ever since the first time I wore them they've been covered with dusty dirt. No matter how much or how often I beat the dirt out of them they will basically always be tannish brown (the same color of the dirt where I hike). It's bad enough that dust is always puffing out of them when I undo the laces. If you care about having a visible layer of dirt/dust on your shoes you might want to get them close to the color of the ground where you hike (although I suppose this could be different for people who don't live in a dry climate like i do?).I plan to update when these shoes crap out on me. I'm curious to see how long the vibram soles last b/c I remember it only took me 3 months to wear completely through the last pair of shoes I had with "vibram" soles (probably 5+ yrs ago--back when Merrells was supposedly higher quality). Of course these days I like to use shoe goo before it gets to that point, but we'll see how long it takes before i have to start smearing shoe goo on the bottoms to keep them from wearing all the way through.UPDATE: I just raised my rating to 5 stars because I've been wearing these every other day since I bought them (so about the equivalent of 6 months) and they've held up WAY better than expected! Most other hiking shoes (even of this same brand) would be trashed by now, yet I haven't even had to use shoe goo on them yet because the soles aren't worn through even a little. The treads are definitely getting worn and there's a tear in the tongue of one shoe, but neither of these things have created any problems yet (they don't even smell bad yet!). I'm definitely going to stick with this brand and model from now on. I think it helps that I never wore them in the rain (I've noticed that every time I wear a pair of hiking shoes in the rain they seem to wear down really fast afterwards so now I only wear hiking shoes that I hate when it rains, which is easy considering it rarely rains here).

Very nice shoes but your feet will smell awful
I've purchased Merrell shoes several times over the years, and they are great, but why do they end up smelling so bad? I'm not the only one with this issue, either (just Google it). Once the smell sets it doesn't matter what product you use, you will not be able to remove the smell from these shoes. My wife makes me leave them in the garage because they smell so bad.

Decent shoes for price
I ordered these in the same size my rainbow running shoes from Merrill came in. They were definitely too small. A half size up worked well. Compared to the running shoes, these lack a soft insole. There is no cushioning. Also both running shoes and hikers have shoe laces that refuse to stay tied even when knotted.I'm hoping to get insoles. In spite of problems, I would still buy again

Great deal on a hiking shoe that will last for years
I've had a pair of Merrell hiker, lowstops, for ten years. They are starting to wear out! What a testament! Merrells last forever, well almost, so my guess why the price is so low is that the print on the insole is bad! See Photo! The shoes are perfect 10M and feel oh-so good! I'll be good until I'm 79! Hike when ever you get the chance!

A snug fit so far...
Just beginning the break-in process...these are a very snug fitment...if you were inbetween sizes, I'd advise to go up to the next 1/2 size if available...I haven't found the discomfort issues others have reported, but this design / manufacture is a stiff fit and relaxes slighty as they break in slowly...Getting them for 1/2 cost on sale was the inducement to take the risk after reading some of the complaints in review...so far, they are alright...

Poor shoe.
My old merrells were an 11 and fitted great, these were an 11 too but were way too small ! They didn’t look very good either, hard to explain but didn’t look like the normal shape of a shoe ? Bit, rounded, pumped up, sent them back.

Excellent!
Bought to replace my decade old pair of Merrell hiking shoes. Very comfortable and good fit.

Excellent First Class Shoe, but I always buy 1/2 size bigger.
Great shoes, I am a UK standard size 8. With these shoes, I always buy 1/2 size bigger, that is the only negative remark. I have had 3 pairs of these shoes, having been tempted by others, and then coming back to Merrell.

Extremely disappointed
Bought these because they offered a wide fit version. Distraught, so much money for extra width, yet they are narrower than many standard size shoes.

Not as per the picture
Shoes are nice, the size is as expected, quality seems to be good. The major problem for me:On picture, we see the shoes identified as "iDry" (Merrell's equivalent of "Gore-Tex", which is breathable). I received nice shoes that are identified as "waterproof" (not breathable). I sweat too much to have waterproof shoes and I returned the product without even trying it.
