Know What You are Getting
When our electric cooktop top shattered by a dropped bowl, I replaced it with this gas cooktop. A couple of issues: 1. The gas cooktop dimensions covered the hole in the counter, but were a little shorter in width and length than old electric cooktop. I had to add a wood frame underneath to keep the cooktop centered and from falling through if pushed too far to one side. 2. The cast iron grates sit high which reduces the dimension from the top of a pot on the stove to the microwave and exhaust fan above. Check the minimum dimensions for your microwave and exhaust fan to make sure you have enough clearance. Ours was 18", barely enough. 3. Burners come in different sizes with a small one and big one one the front, and 2 medium size on the back, and largest burner in the center. I would prefer the 2 medium size burners to be on the front since we use them the most. 4. The control knobs are on the front that makes the burners further away from a person standing. I would prefer the control knobs on the side allowing the burners to be closer to the front. 5. Control knobs are small and round. To light you have to push down, hold, and turn until igniter lights the flame, and has enough heat to stay lit. I would prefer larger knobs. 6. If knob is held too short of a time, or somehow the flame goes out, gas will turn off. 7. Out of the box, the cooktop is set for natural gas. If you want to use with propane, the propane orifices are included. The cooktop also has a gas regulator, that has a natural gas setting and propane. You have to unscrew the diagram spring cover and flip the spring cover over so the N is down, and P is up. This takes a little knowledge and skill to make sure this is done right. 8. The gas control knob does not have enough range of control. The flame tends to be high even on the smallest burner at the minumum setting. Certain sauces have to be constantly stirred so the don't burn and stick to the bottom of the pot. 9. The cooktop is made in China, not Italy. With all this said, the gas cooktop is well made and reliable. When you clean the cooktop, there a lot of parts to remove. Be careful not to drop the cast iron grates, they would likely break.

Issues right out of the box
I bought this because it had pretty good reviews. After installation the unit did not work properly (one of the igniters.). In the process of returning it - we discovered the unit they sold me was not only used but a returned item. Inspect the box carefully! We did buy another one because my wife likes the configuration, and it seems to work fine. However, you’re never supposed to use a gas line twice, which required me to purchase a second gas line @ $40. I’m hoping Empava will refund this additional cost as they should have never sold a used unit as new. BTW- it’s impossible to get a hold of anyone….(at Empava.)

Beautiful but dangerous
This is a beautiful stove but found to be very dangerous. They say all that glitters is not gold, so here. While cooking with an almost full pan of boiling water, the pan was gently pulled close to the edge of the raised burner structure with intention of removing it. The pan suddenly tipped toward me with the water flying out. Some of it landed on my bare feet also making the floor slick. As I tried to jump out of the way, I slipped and fell to the floor pan and all. My left arm landed in a puddle of scalding water and burned me deeply. I had never paid much attention to expensive well made stove tops and ranges. They are mostly flat. This stove has a raised bracket all the way around and spaces perfect for a pan to tip off! Thank God I was alone in the kitchen so wife or animals were not burned. .

Quality cooktop
I installed it only a few days ago so I'm not sure about longevity or customer service but this is what I do know. I really like the thermocouple safety feature. The grills are lower to the flame and lighter. At first I wasn't sure I liked that but it heats and cools faster. I like that the grill is three sections, easy to work with cleaning, less transfer of heat to the grates not in use. The glass surface is easier to clean and much more scratch resistant than the soft stainless Electrolux uses in their units. It is far superior to the Electrolux it replaced (which has flaws to spare) . I will say that the manual is wanting for improvement and the unit could really use set screws from the box underneath sidewall to cabinet. I can only think that Empava is trying to grab market share via aggressive pricing as I feel like I found a gem.

Great value
Was easy to install, worked like a charm as soon as it was hooked up. Temperature variation on each burner is limited, but with 5 burners not a big problem. Very happy with it

No me duro el año, el vidrio templado estallo mientras concinaba. La compre en mayo del 2020 y solo aguanto hasta abril del 2021.
