Smart Ink Compatible Ink Cartridges Replacement for HP 952XL 952 XL 4 Combo Pack (Black, Cyan/Magenta/Yellow) to use with HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 7740 8720 8715 8210 8703 OfficeJet 8702 Printers

I recently purchased ink from Smart Ink while searching to find a replacement for HP 952 ink which is outrageously priced. Though Smart Ink's product description stated HP compatibility, when my order arrived it would not work in my HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 because of a chip incompatibility. I contacted Smart Ink about this via Chat. The customer service was incredible. They immediately replaced my order with chip compatible cartridges and had them to me in two days! The replacement works perfectly and at a cost significantly less than HP ink. Their ink is a great value for the money, and their customer service stands out in a world of poor customer service!!

Works perfectly well at time of writing this (about a week after I bought this). I had initially bought the same product, but when I installed it into my printer, it came up with the non-HP compatibility warning. Luckily, the ink cartridges came with instructions that already prepped for this said to contact Smart Ink. Customer service was excellent! Within 5 minutes, as they promised on their package, I got a reply, and I was already receiving a replacement the next day. This replacement had full HP compatibility and is now working as it should. Robin was a very helpful person and saved my printer and my money.

The cartridges did not work out of the box as promised. However, after contacting the vendor I was given a choice to rollback the firmware or get replacement cartridges. I chose the replacement cartridges as I do not like to mess with the firmware of any devices. Once I receive the new ones, and they work, I will revisit this review and update it. Either they do work as advertised and I'll give it a 5, or they don't and I'll drop it to one. Delivery should take about two days. So update in in three.UPDATE: The new cartridges have arrived and function as advertised. Which is highly appreciated. Thus an upgrade to 5 star.

Great ink. No problems with setting or using. Just follow simple instruction. Got more pages from these cartridges than OEM HP's. Cost at least $100 less than OEM HP... HP absurdly priced, and up at least $30 over 2025 prices. Definitely recommend these.

BUY IT! Perfect printing quality and was compatible with my HP All in one 8700/8706 printer. At first, after inserting all the cartridges, I couldn’t print from my laptop or phone like I had previously done with the brand cartridges. BUT the package came with such helpful guides and problem solving (and super cute stickers) I was able to easily and effortlessly get in touch with the Smart Ink customer service/problem solving department and let me just say they were so patient and so helpful and so nice and was able to provide me a few steps to try to fix my printer issue and of course, one of the steps worked like a charm and I was back to printing and I couldn’t be more pleased with the service and product and costs!! Will def be purchasing these cartridges going forward! Again, Thank you soooo much to Andrew and Ann who helped me via the chat service and got me all fixed! Also, thank you to Ben, who reached out via email to ask me if I was able to get everything back working and how he could assist if needed. SUPERB SERVICE!

Awesome customer service! These ink cartridges work great in my HP 8702 printer.I originally purchased them in October 2025 when my printer first warned that the ink was getting low. HP apparently has software restrictions that can prevent the use of third-party ink cartridges. Since genuine HP ink costs about three times what my printer is now worth—and the printer still works perfectly—I decided to give Smart Ink a try.Unfortunately, I didn’t install the cartridges until my original HP ink was completely empty on 6/29/26. By then, HP had pushed a software update to my printer, and the new cartridges were no longer recognized.I contacted Smart Ink using the information included with the cartridges, and their customer service was outstanding. They responded immediately and shipped replacement cartridges the same day. I received them just two days later!IMPORTANT: If you buy these cartridges, either disable automatic printer software updates or install the cartridges as soon as you receive them. I waited too long, and the HP update caused the problem—not the cartridges.Smart Ink fixed the issue without hesitation. I’d give them 10 stars if I could!

I recently ordered and installed the Smart Ink 952XL Ink Cartridges into my 2018 HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 All-in-One Printer without any difficulty. I just removed the previous not so good "compatible" cartridges I have been using to replace the HP brand, put the Smart Ink brand in and printer quality is great! Smart Ink provided all necessary info you need to trouble shoot and a contact number to call. I'm unable to give a response on ink duration and capacity at this time because I have not used it long enough. Great Value for the money. I highly recommend this product due to it's quality and cost. Thank you, Smart Ink, for bringing your affordable product to consumers.

It won’t work with 8715

I bought the cartridges a few months ago. I was leary of the non-HP cartridge issue. HP is so profit driven. Anyhow, I did run into the non-HP cartridge firmware problem. So, I tried the support by contacting them through their help app. It was a great experience from the ease of scanning the QR code to the downloading the firmware & downgrading it on my printer. Their instructions to turn off firmware updates were clear & very important to follow to avoid the same problem in future. The whole fix took maybe 5 minutes & worked flawlessly. Will definitely buy again.

I got this as a replacement ink for my 8720 HP Officejet Pro. Once installed the cartridges, the printer recognized them as incompatible. Despite the manufacturer's assertion that they are compatible. Also, it didn't help to follow the manufacturer's suggestion and turn off the auto firmware update in the printer. The printer simply did not agree to work with these cartridges.This is a piece of junk --- never again I will buy anything from this company.
