Bought this to shred cd/dvd's. Works great.

This is the perfect little shredder if you want to protect your information but also don't want to deal with a large motorized shredder that takes up floor space and is loud when in operation. I keep this little shredder on a shelf in my bookcase and it's pretty much out of sight when not in use. It shreds only one sheet at a time, but I simply separate out my mail and only shred the pages that contain sensitive information. It shreds into small pieces that are even smaller than my old powered shredder created. The hand crank works well as long as you don't mind using a little muscle instead of dealing with the loud noise of a powered shredder. The plastic bin holds the shreds from quite a few sheets and is easy to empty. There are slots for credit cards and CDs. I haven't used those as I don't really have any CDs to get rid of. The credit card slots look like they would leave quite a bit of information visible on the cards once they are shredder so I'll probably just continue using regular scissors for credit cards. This allowed me to get rid of my large shredder that was taking up space on the floor and required a power outlet. There are many manual shredders like this for sale, but this is the only one I found that is a crosscut shredder. The others just did the basic strips of paper that seem too easy to piece back together. If you're looking for a compact shredder that is also quiet then this is exactly what you should buy. It only shreds one sheet at a time so it isn't suited for shredding hundreds of historical documents, but if you just need to shred a few things a day like junk mail, bank statements, etc. then it's a perfect solution!

Ok little hand held shredder, only handles 1 pice at a time, wish that wasn’t the case.

I've had several shredders in the past. All were electric. The first shredded in strips, so I replaced with a cross cut shredder for more security. Unfortunately, both the first cross cut shredder and its replacement eventually wore out. Not wanting to keep spending money replacing them, using the energy to run them, and the space they take up in a very small office, I opted to shred by hand (yes, scissors). After shredding about 18 inches of stacked papers (file cabinet purge), I decided that I had better things to spend my time on and began to look to see what options were out there. My search found these hand cranked manual shredders. I spent a lot of time researching the options, reading reviews, comparing features, etc. I decided on this model. I have to say I was pretty pleased and felt a bit like a kid with a new toy when I began using it. This is FAR better than shredding with a pair of scissors any day of the week and I no longer have shredding calluses from all of the cutting. My experience using this shredder: Pros: Takes up little space. Fits easily on a shelf or in a small spot. Manual. No power needed to run. Quiet. Shreds in very tiny pieces, there is no chance anyone is going to piece shredded documents back together. Clear base makes it easy to see when to empty it. Cons: Top heavy, often tips while using. Lid is not secured to base and comes off during use. Hand crank is not secure and comes off frequently during use. Can shred only one sheet of paper at a time effectively. Multiple sheets, or card stock do not shred correctly and must be put through multiple times to get thoroughly shredded. Overall, I like this shredder. It serves my needs and is a good compromise between an electric shredder and shredding by hand. I am happy with my purchase. Oh, as for CDs, I found that this little machine does a great job. It munches right through that plastic like nobody's business.

I was initially excited about this product (as excited you can get about a paper shredder) as we have a very low volume of paper to shred. Since we shred sparingly It would have been nice to have a small device to destroy sensitive documents that didn't require batteries or power and could easily be stored out of sight ready to use when we needed it. Within shredding backlog of ~20 documents the device broke. The device was handling single sheets fine, slightly thicker folded sheets, envelopes and inserts. The last item I attempted to shred was two sheets of standard US letter which I mistakenly thought was one sheet. This device due to the double side shredder tends to cause bunching of the paper as it moves through. Due to the gearing you have to turn the handle at a reasonably fast pace to get the sheet to move through. Combine these two factors I heard a loud snap when trying to shred my last item. I was seeing a little bit of bunching of the paper and turning the handle every ~1.5s to 2.0s. * See pictures and video Disassembling the device showed one of the reduction gear's teeth were wearing/warping and a whole tooth has sheared right off of the gear. Ironically no plastic broke (including the crank handle). This tells me that the strength and quality of the gears in this device are substantially sub-par and even if the device did not fail outright, its lifetime is significantly short. Lastly I understand perhaps I overloaded the device on my last shred. However my expectation of any device of this sort would have a margin of human error of at least two sheets of US letter paper!! I hope to hear from the seller or manufacturer. Will attempt a return.

I only shred papers a few times a year and live in a tiny place so space is a premium. This compact little shredder works great for securely shredding a few papers at a time. I also like that it uses a manual crank and no batteries are required. Does crosscut shredding to keep papers secure. For credit cards it only cuts in strips.

It can't do many sheets of paper at a time. Maybe 2 if im lucky. Forget about card stock or heavy envelopes. The handle feels like it will snap off with ever turn. It is hard ti turn with any more than 2 sheets of paper. The lid has no latch so it constantly pops off when shredding. Although most shredders don't have this latch mechanism this unit needs one because the shredder head is fairly heavy due to all the metal gears and cutters and it has a tiny light weight catch bucket so its really not balanced. If you don't hold your hand down on the top while you are cranking you will undoubtedly topple the catch bin and make a mess. Don't bother to use the credit card cutter it slices them but no cross cut. Man I bought this thing to go through the mail before It starts building up in my house. I can see this is a giant waste of time and money. It is what it is but what it isn't is a efficient way to shred paper. Its more of a novelty than a worthy piece of office equipment. Sorry to clobber it but its just not impressive and I wouldn't recommend it.

this thing works like a charm! Was able to eat thru cds with no Issues! I After it cut it into 3...I just turned piece around and cut it again...so easy Paper- don't do more than 1 piece at a time...it won't shred more than that. But I really love this thing....and I really DON"T miss all that gross dust from my electric shredder/ Nice portable size to keep out and use dialy...so no buildup of things to shred, Very pleased

Got this to get rid of unwanted cds etc; works very well! Bit of elbow grease saves money given prices of shredders with this sort of capability. Country of origin is Japan which guarantees its quality.

Solid machine however takes a lot of elbow grease to operate.

実家にある10年以上前の同製品の歯が滑るようになったので買って欲しいと親にお願いされました。 以前の製品と比べると下のケースの高さが低くなったくらいで他は同じでした。また、断裁の歯が弱くなってる気がするそうです。 私は長年変わらず生産し売れる商品に感激しました。

ディスク処分用に購入。紙の裁断は一切してません。その上でレビューします。 【良い所】 ⚫︎ディスク100枚以上裁断してるけど、切れ味劣らず 【今ひとつな所】 ⚫︎持ち手が短い ⚫︎下のケース(受け皿?)がちょっと脆そう 細かい所が気になるけど、まぁ満足かな？
