Empire Level 4004 48-Inch Aluminum Straight Edge

I purchased this straight edge specifically to use as a golf club length ruler. I saw a few of the golf specific clubmaker rulers, which looked basically like a 48 inch straight edge with markings for standard/recommend club lengths. The Empire 4004 has markings for 48 inches in 1/16" increments as well as 1/8" increments. The 1/8" increments makes it very easy to mark and cut golf shafts, especially when you have to cut an additional 1/8" to account for the end of the golf grip. The Empire 4004 is less expensive than the golf-specific rulers. My 4004 arrived with some dings and markings from storage and shipment at Amazon, but it is still very straight. Overall: 5/5 stars, inexpensive and perfect as a golf club length ruler.

I needed a yardstick/straightedge tool, this fit the bill perfectly! Shipped in a packing tube, it arrived quickly and in great condition. It's made of a fairly thick aluminum stock with easy to read increments, and certainly is straight as an arrow. I've used it to cut drawer liners for tool boxes, kitchen shelf liners, small construction and home repair projects, I'm very pleased with this tool.

This straight edge, really a ruler, is big and wide and sturdy. It is nicely finished, clearly marked and perfect for bigger jobs. It would be even better if it had a thin cork or rubber backing, but it is still a good buy.

Exactly what I was looking for for my sewing projects. It's nice and thick and holds up well for cutting with a roller blade. I was skeptical it would be heavy-duty enough given the price but it was exactly what I needed. Glad I didn't buy the $20 flimsy metal ruler from the craft store.

I only give it a 4 out of five stars because of the WEIGHT. I would have expected an aluminum straight edge to be LIGHTER weight. Be SURE to consider the weight before ordering. Otherwise, it's RATHER LARGE AND a very well made rule. The etched & printed numbering is very readable and accurate. Ships in a reusable heavy duty tube that after, can be used for storage

Moved to another house and couldn’t find my straight edge. Ordered the Empire 48 inch straight edge and it is far superior to the one I couldn’t find. Nice weight and I especially like the 48 inch length. Price was right. Excellent product.

This is a really solid metal stick. It's exactly what I was looking for. It doesn't bend when you hold it in one hand. The numbers are large. I used it to cut some light canvas outside. It was perfect to draw a line against. It's thick enough to put a level against. I have never seen one like this in a big box store. It was delivered fast and really packaged tightly with bubble wrap. I paid full price for this and did not receive any type of compensation for this review.

Arrived in red plastic wrap with shipping label slapped on. All corners were heavily dinged with some nicks down the sides. Metal file and sandpaper fixed the damage enough to be acceptable. BUT!!!!! It is straight enough! YAY Quite thick. You could use a contractor fat marker and stay on the line. Was expecting a thin ruler that can't even hold its weight. But you can pick this up from one end and not worry it will bend. After all, it did survive being shipped with NO protection.
