***Returned Product Review***
It’s important to understand that this product was previously returned for unknown reasons and was purchased by me, at a discounted price (-$75~).The guitar was devoid of neck tension, I assume from the previous customer. I spent 40 minutes adjusting the neck relief and bridge height to get the instrument back in playable condition. I don’t mind making adjustments, as the product was already discounted.Beyond that, the instrument plays well, has a great sound, and the strings were essentially brand new.I wouldn’t advise this instrument to a beginner, due to the longer scale length and larger gauge strings. There is definitely more fatigue compared to a standard acoustic guitar. For anyone already familiar with standard tuned guitars, the transition would be almost seamless. Same chording, same number of frets. The baritone tunes to B standard. 5 steps below normal tuning.Recommended for guitarists looking to get out of the Normal key rut, or for someone wanting to try a lower tuning to match their singing pitch.

Yes, buy the Alvarez ABT60 Baritone and be wary of.....
As an acoustic baritone concept this guitar is wonderful 5 star guitar. I am giving it 3 stars because of a fatal sitar effect on the 3rd string above fifth fret which drove me to purchase 5 and return 4 ABT60's. Two from Amazon and three from Guitar Center. Now, there were other strings that buzzed, but the 3rd string 5th fret and up was bad. Wrote to Tom Kruszka from Alvarez a few times and was told the guitars were set up to not buzz under normal pick pressure. So, in the hopes the first was bad luck I ordered another, buzz, and another, buzz, etc. Normal pick pressure. Deal killer annoying. In fairness, staying below the 5th fret it responded much better. .I really loved how this guitar sounded and played. It is a good value and a good guitar. I wanted to buy it. I took my purchases to a local luthier and another tech for evaluation. They basically took the time to give me a five minute set-up and determined the ABT60 needed a fret leve$/polish. The fifth time I gave up getting a non-buzzing ABT60 out of the box and decided to keep the 5th guitar. I committed to the repair. The good news and bad news are the ABT60 now plays "buzzless with normal pick pressure" after a necessary fret level and polish. Yeah! The decision has turned out to be worth it. Great Baritone for $400 and still a great value at $550.PS I was only pursuing sound. I would have kept any of these guitar if it was just about a small ding or a seam or a blemish. They all sounded good.If you get one that does not buzz for your style of playing, you have a 5 star winner. If not, and you love the guitar, reconcile yourself to having the frets leveled.

Over the Top
I was not surprised at the Craftsmanship of this Guitar...it's an Alvarez. The Guitar is extremely beautiful, the set-up was perfect and it sounds better than I imagined. This Baritone Guitar has a wonderful haunting sound. Very nice for picking as opposed to strumming but works both ways. I can't get over how well-built this Alvarez Baritone Guitar is. I feel lucky to own one and love playing it.

Alavrez doesn't have the best rep in terms of producing acoustic guitars in my opinion, I've held and played a few in my life and I was always left unimpressed. This baritone guitar is different. It's well made, and sounds very good. If you want to get into baritone and don't want to invest thousands, give this guitar a try. I purchased this for a friend after I bought a lefty from another seller. He loves it. Sometimes picking up a new but familiar instrument sparks creativity, it certainly does for me. Guitar is tuned B-b and can be capo'd (recommend Kyser 12 string). The baritone can be a very versatile instrument in that it can tuned a 1/2 step down, full step down from standard with a capo. I'm glad I bought this for my friend, it made him very happy as a bass player he loved the thicker gauge strings. I highly recommend Alvarez's foray into the acoustic baritone guitar market.

Pretty good,pretty neat
Not bad.Affordable baritone to add to a collection.Definitely a couple steps up from what I always thought of when I thought of "Alvarez"-but then I am quickly becoming an acoustic guitar snob,(Martin,Gibson,or even a Taylor it is not!)It is very muddy when playing chords, but this is the firsy baritone I have played, maybe that's a thing with all of them.I changed the strings to the coated ones as another reviewer suggested and it helped a bit.It has a surprisingly nice spruce top on it , it stays in tune well enough, and it looks cool.Fun to play a bass-like guitar for something different and inspiring, this one just doesn't have a super appealing tone that makes it hard to put down. Then again, for the price, it's still a decent guitar and it's fun to play and probably a lot better if you are a really good guitar player, I am only so-so!

If this is your prospective first baritone acoustic, please don't hesitate any longer. Barring the lucky find of a lifetime, you will not come across a higher quality instrument at this price point in the niche market of baritone acoustics - a solid spruce top, beautiful appointments, fine build quality, etc.I'm giving the guitar a five star review, because the guitar deserves it. However, the strings that come with it will need to go. You will find them a poor choice (as you will find reported elsewhere in these reviews and on the internet in general). My recommendation would be to get your hands on a set of Elixir strings, this set specifically:Elixir Strings 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings w NANOWEB Coating, Baritone (.016-.070) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003BG7JIQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fBruAbEFJ6QE1They are far less metallic-sounding and they really draw out the brightness and warmth of the spruce top, without compromising the bassiness that makes the baritone interesting in the first place.

Incredible value for the money.
Hard to believe that you can buy such a good quality, all solid wood baritone guitar for this price. On top of that, the tone quality will give you a good idea as to whether a baritone guitar is your thing and may want to get into higher end baritones.

5 Stars
I would have only given this beauty 4.5 stars because it sounded a tiny bit muddy with slight fret buzz on the 6th string...however, once I tuned it up from the factory B to B tuning to a C to C tuning it turned it into a 5 star baritone.
